Hi It's me again! On Graham's advise we will be taking the Ladysmith , Dundee route North. Has anybody camped at Natal Spa lately? Feed back on conditions would be greatly appreciated. Blooming regardsJoanne

Hi Graham.

It's Paulpietersburg in Northern Natal.Vryheid, Utrecht Newcastle area.

I have corrected the spelling.

Regards.

Yes just pulling Joanne's leg, Joanne if you thinking of night stopping somewhere, Dundee has the Kwarrie Caravan Park  and even a little further on towards Vryheid +-30 kms,  there is the Battlefields caravan park. It is on a farm, it has great lawn stands, small but neat ablution, great lapa and all the electrical and water necessary. the owners are great people as well. It is right next to the Battlefields Lodge.

Ek het as kind NATAL SPA gereeld besoek in my kindrjare. Die laaste keer moes ongeveer in die omgewing van 1952 gewees het. Daar was drie swembaddens van warm tot koud.
Ek onthou nog dat die swembad in die middel het n groot rots aan die een kant gehad waarvan ond altyd afgeduik het.

Sal bly wees as iemand fotos kan plaas. Sal lekker wees om te sien of daar nog iets is wat ek sal kan onthou

Just a word of advice.. if you going via Ladysmith to Natal Spa, On the N11, turn off at the Elandslaagte turn-off and head for Dundee that way and then Vryheid. From just after the Elandslaagte turn-off there are roadworkds on the N11, with 60 huge speedbumps, that took the back feet off the stands of my caravan.

I agree about taking the Dundee road to Vryheid. Just watch out for ruts on that road.

I was there 3 weeks ago. New owners and nicely maintained. I can highly recommend it. The pools are great. Keeps the children fully occupied. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi Guys. Be careful towing between Vryheid and Dundee as there are quite a few nasty potholes and the rutting is quite severe in places. Being single lane in each direction, you may come upon a pothole when there is oncoming traffic and you do not have enough room to miss the pothole - so drive quite slowly and enjoy the farmlands view.

"They" are slowly working on some of the worn out road and repair the damaged area with gravel patches to be surfaced later. This gravel does work loose and gets bumpy with some flying stones. SLOWLY is however OK.

Definely 20 km outside Ladysmith on the N11 towards Newcastle, take the right turn towards Elandslaagte, Wesselsnek, Wasbank, Glencoe and Dundee. This is an excellent road - I rebuilt it in 1988/89!
