Dagse vriende,

Toe ry ek vandag saam my skoonseun Prince Albert toe."Pa ek moet gou by die man stop om iets op te laai", sy hy. Ek klim saam uit want dit is n pragige ou historiese huisie, en daar onder n afdak,onder n lap staan die karretjie. Heeltemal oorspronklik.

Herman - lovely and only 50 109 miles on the clock. Surprised What did you pay for it ? and which motor is in it?

Looks like the Mk3 with the 1300cc motor.

Brain, 1970 Mk3, paid R 30k. 1300cc twin carb.
I will need to spend a bit, respray, upholstery, soft top, carpets,all there, but needs replacement. All the chrome trimmings in place. Overall beautifull original condition, the windscreen has the gearchange pattern printed on it,must be original.

Looking forward to the restoration. Do you know them?

Herman I used to admire them as a youngster - could never afford to have one at the time. 

WOW at R30k you have bought a bargain. Enjoy restoring it I'm sure you will be posting more photos as you go go along.

There was 1970 was the last yer they built the M3 it then changed to the Mk4 with the engine power, although still the 1300, slightly reduced so I think you got the better one.

There can't be too many of those in SA. There are many websites for spares should you need anything. Good luck with the project.

My werkery oor 4 weke klaar. Dogter uit Engeland kom kuier ,ons kamp in November,dan gaan ek begin, sien vreeslik uit daarna.
Gaan dit maar lekker rustig vat. Sal seker goed wees om by die Truimp klub aan te sluit vir raad.

Nice, have fun with your hobby. If you are doing a lot of the work yourself it is a good hobby, but when you have to pay to get others to do the jobs it is a hole in the pocket. I had an 84, 944 Porsche for about 4 years which was fun at motocross etc but when it came to the expensive repair bills I found I was out of my league. Now I have swapped that for a new Harley, hopefully without repair bills, and the weekend rides are great fun without the worry of expensive repairs. Enjoy your restoration and riding the car with a club.

Herman - great car! Brings back great memories!

I had the TR2 in 1966 - twin Weber carbs - 0 to very fast in very little time!

Went like a "Bat out of Hell!"

I was busy re- carpeting it, when a mate wanted a spin. I had both the seats out. So I put the drivers seat in only - no windscreen as I was also busy getting it ready to respray - Gert sat on the back - boot - with his legs inside. I also had the hood off.

Started up - first gear got to about 60 miles per hour - top of the road T junction - pressed brakes - zippo! Hit clutch - swung the steering wheel full lock, grabed the hand brake- released then droped the clutch,  & did a full 160 degree - hit the accellerator! Gert landed about 20 meters away head over T**t, but very lucky not to break anything.TR's could sit on the road - nothing could faze them!

These TR's were amazingly fast. Decided to get rid of it as soon as I put it back on the road -

GREAT CAR! Mine was green - dubbed "The Green Monster!" Two of my other mates each had TR 3s - theirs were red. We created havoc in Witpoortjie with these TR's back then! 120MPH in these tjhings was nothing back then!

The only shitty problem is the road to the farm. Next project might end up buying and fixing an old grader.

And today I heard of a vintage vw autovilla for sale. Abandoned project, new 2000cc engine, gutted on inside. Right up my sleeve.

Well done Herman, nice restoration project.I remember trying to help a friend in Pretoria to synchronize and fine tune the SU carbs - what a job, especially for novices. His Spitfire had knock on chrome spoke wheels - stunning! Enjoy your fun restoring, I am sure you will have many handlanger enthusiast pals to assist with the work.

WItbok, my enigste handlanger is my linkerhand. Ons bly so diep in die gopse.
Elk geval, het so bietjie gaan google, en mens kan regtig als vir die Truimp kry in die UK.
My dogter woon daar en kom kuier binnekort. Sy bring vir my nuwe lense vir al die liggies.
n Kennis wat ou rygoed verkoop en uitvoer, se raad was om nie te rof aan te gaan nie, se n redelike een se prys is so R100k.
Ek het die speekwiele geprys, wil dit graag opsit,kos 1300 , verskeping gaan net duur wees. So ek sal dit dalk laaste moet doen. Die verfwerk gaan seker ook n klompie kos, het nie n idee wat dit sal wees nie, my spuitwerk net goed genoeg vir trekkers.

Interesant dat die mk3 se enjin sterker was as die wat later gekom het. Klomp jare terug het ek n 1275 gts mini gehad wat ek als onder die son gedoen het om warm te maak, dit was eenvoudig simpel hoe die klein dingetjie gewikkel het.

Na al die gekamp en werkery takel ek nou die Truimp. Mooi van ver was seker n goeie beskrywing, nou dat van die stukkies afkom, n heel ander storie.
Die bleddie rand wat so swak is gee my kopseer, om nuwe onderdele in te voer is verskriklik duur, n simpel "clip" wat trimming vashou kos R17,50 om in te bring slegs 70sent in UK.en daar is sommer baie.
Daai gesegde "in for a penny, in for a pound" is nou eerder "in for 4, in for R100.00.
Om dit in perspektief te sit n bier kos 3,50 daar anderkant in n pub.
Wel, ek is aan die gang, en stop eers waneer dit buite staan reg vir n ry. Se sommer sterkte vir myself.

Lank gestaan. Sterkte met die projek en dink aan die vreugde wanneer dit klaar is.

Ook lus vir so 'n projekkie om 'n VW kombi te ombou vir Kruger naweek wegbreke. Het eenvoudig nie die plek in die erf nie.

Hendrik, ja daar is darem geen "deadline" nie. Ek sal net n projek begin sodra ek my volle toewyding kan gee, anders moet dit wag. Dan kry dit al my tyd totdat dit voltooi is, ek verpes sulke stukkies werk aan iets. Die gaan n hele paar maande neem, van als nuut binne, oorgespuit tot volledig meganies nagegaan.

Vandag weer so tydjie ingesit, dit was die afgelope tyd net hopeloos te warm om in die skuur te werk. Vandag heeldag gereen en kon bakwerk afhaal, nogal n aardige klompie werk.
Ek hoop Benkie lees, hy moet kom kuier sodat ons die ratkas kan takel.
