And so we kick off the new year.....if the rest of 2014 would be like the first 9 days, well then we have nothing to worry about. After a long 6 months removed from our little piece of heaven in the bush, we are now on our way to enjoy a well deserved 9 days of piece and tranquility! We have so missed the animals, the bush....sole food.

In a couple of hours' time, we will be sitting around the camp fire, listening to the roar of the lions and the laughing hyena...

Just a bit of feedback....Hendrik, you're right....the bush is so lush, it is absolutely unbelievable, but beautiful!
Yesterday we went in to the Kruger at Crocodile Bridge...within the first 700m we have already seen rhino, buffalo and a pride of lions camping either side of the tar road. After a very tasty burger at Lower Sabie, we carried on and then took the S21dirt road, which was very quiet for a goos couple of km. About 1km before we got to the next T-junction, a leopard was suddenly on our left right next to the road....stalking impala on the opposite side of the road. She then crossed the road and went to lie down behind a bush to watch the impala. Unfortunately so many vehicles started to join, that we eventually left and will now never know if she made the kill. But, shortly before we got back to Crocodile bridge we spotted 3 elephant and our day was completed...we were so fortunate! Add the lonely leopard tortoise, squirrel and meerkat and the wildebeest babies we came across....the day could not be better!

Needless to say, back at the campsite we all sat around the campfire and spoke about the sightings for hours whilst listening to the roar if the lion and the laughing hyena...

You had some great sightings in KNP as well. Well done!

Am so itching to visit the Park --- maybe one day this year we'll manage a trip.
