Good morning everyone, trust you all well.

I am planning a road trip in the next week or two, from JHB to Margate to visit my dad, then from Margate to Cape Town to visit my brother.

What would be the best route from Margate to Cape Town, and what places would be ideal for a one night stop over? 

I am currently driving a Mazda CX-5 Diesel AWD, so the odd sand road or two wouldn't bother me too much. I am sure though one does need to go on a sand road, but I could be wrong.

Are you towing or not ? If not, I would suggest Coastal route , you use Port Elizabeth as a halfway stop ( 800km). I highly suggest you drive from Margate through Port Shepstone, Kokstad ( N2), avoid Port Edward, Bizana route, potholes.

Ja, dit is waar, maar dan het jy 'n huurmotor nodig, ens., en ek sal baie graag 'n padreis wil doen. Ek geniet dit baie om paduitstappies te doen en in klein dorpies te stop en daarna te kyk. Ek besluit om dit 'n langer reis te maak, en spandeer twee dae in elke klein dorpie wat interessant lyk.

Altyd lekker so kuier kuier op die pad.

Ons toer is amper by die voordeur......
