We camped at Mac Nicol resort at Bazley beach at the beginning of January. The resort itself is really good and facilities include a swimming pool, scones and tea at 11H00, vacvation program and is situated next to a lagoon. The sites are fine, although some sites have little grass and water taps are few.
My main gripe is the beach. I am camping once a year at the beach and the main attraction is to swim in the sea. That is something you simply cannot do at Bazley beach. So, if you intend camping at Mac Nicol take this into account. You will have to drive to a nearby beach if you are into body surfing or just swimming in the sea. This is the same for Ifafa beach nearby, although they have a tidal pool at least for the little ones.
I really enjoyed camping there, but will book at a different resort because of the beach. Really unfortunate.
Elbert dankie vir die info,
Hi Albert, I agree with you, very nice caravan park. We enjoyed our stay there but the fact you have to cross the railway to get to the beach and that the beach is not suitable for swimming is not ideal, especially for people coming to KZN for the beach.
We are going to Ifafa next weekend. Nice rocks and tidal pool and fresh water pool. The restaurant is great.
I am also a sea dog, I have found that Happy Wandereers is perfect for swimming diving & fishing, you only walk 100m into the water. They have a perfect little shop that stock a lot and is open all day. If it rains and you cannot braai, their restaurant has a larg menu for all and not to mention a brilliant pub for rugby.
Now, this sounds to me the way to relax when on holiday. We are thinking of visiting TO Strand this year, but we will keep Happy Wanderers in the back of our mind, since it is a bit shorter to drive from Polokwane.
Yes TO is a very nice park, has its own Putt Putt (brink own clubs and balls). On the way down you will pass Mac Bannanas, you must take a drive for pancackes, the best.
