This morning on windy it show similar here by us with rain. we had stronger up at Hartenbos in Feb while we were there so I‘m sure we will survive. How are you enjoying Bontebok? I assume you have been into Swellies, lovely little town.   

We visited the new PnP complex yesterday.

The roads here have taken a (rain) beating as have all the parks we have visited this trip. MZNP, Camdeboo, Karoo and now here. 

I enjoy these trails along the river, good birding...

The PnP center used to be the Hotel.

How long are you staying at bontebok ? 

We are here for a month (May), then we head home. (Just around the corner).

We start heading back towards end May with the next endpoint being Eiland. Won't get there until end June. probably stay up north for a few months.

Wind has actually not been too bad here and is forecast to slow down over the next 6 to 8 hours. Have also had a bit of rain but again not as much as was forecast. Supposed to have sunshine from tomorrow and the rest of the week. Will probably go into the park again in the week.

Spoke too soon it‘s bucketing down here now :)

We left our setup standing strong at 10h00.

Went out participating in the Ebird Global Big Bird Day.

Conditions for birding was horrible and did not expect to find much.

My target contribution  birds were Black Harrier and Agulhas Long-bill Lark.

Had 3 sightings of Black Harrier and doubled my life count on the Agulhas Long-bill Lark (now seen 2).

We also had about 10 Cape Vultures, 2 sightings of Secretary Birds and a sighting of Blue Crane. All these on the Agulhas plains ie between Swellendam and De Hoop/Malgas.

We returned 'home' rather exhausted and wind bashed.

Front of tent was drooping....

Our tent has 5 upright poles. The one in front of the door 'failed'. No poles bent or broken. However the sleeve that holds the short cross poles' stiching had come partly undone!? (Not torn).

Richard, sorry to hear of the damage. At least no damaged poles and the stitching can be redone. Hope you can sort it out soon.
