We are planning to visit the Karridene resort in early December. Is there someone who could provide us with fresh info on the resort. What activities do they provide? In what condition of the Bathrooms?
Hi, We try to camp one weekend a month at different parks, except for July & August as it is normally to cold at night for Marshall (8yr disabled & blind). We go to Karridene about 4 times a year because it is so cheap.
The bathrooms are spotless and the camp sites are huge. All the activities are part of the hotel. Pool, mini golf, squash, table tennis, volly ball etc. They have cabled D.S.T.V. to each site, so we use Karridene as a rugby watch braai weekend, Just take your T.V. & a long aerial cable. (We don't normally take our TV with when camping except to Karridene. ) When we go to Karridene we make it a different weekend, sport & braai, and do nothing but sit and relax. We live in South Durban and find it a nice close cheap break. 20mins from home. We will be camping there again the weekend 19-23rd October 2012.
Have to agree> Large level grassed sites, with good ablutions. Pool area gets busy on a sunday due to number of people visiting the hotel for lunch. Put put, pool, squash court available. Beach can be a safety concern so dont go onto beach alone at night crab hunting. They chopped a number of trees down last year which was a pity, but i like the park
Thanks for your info.
We are looking for alternative decent camp sites for the beginning of December, as Natalia wants to charge us R630 per night. All of a sudden they do not have a mid season tarif for the first week like they have had in the past.
Thanks for the info. We have been camping at Natalia the last few years and have learnt to know the area. We have forbidden the childern to go to the beach at night as well as going below the river.
Hi, The reason a lot of the trees were cut down is because they were having a problem with white ants in the large trees. One tree fell on a caravan so they decided to remove all the tree that had white ants to prevent an accident. I dont know what the normal tarrifs are at Karridene. We get a special pensions rate of R110 for 2 pensions for two nights (the whole weekend costs us R110) because we camp there with The Trekkers Club,( = R25.00 per pensioner per night ) for nothing so now you know why we camp there so often.
Most the camps are fully booked for Christmas so yo will have to move it if you have not booked yet.
You also get 100mb of internet usage per day which is nice for some campers with a laptop. The reception can be picked up through out the caravan park.
Thanks for the very usefull information.
Hi John, I did not know about the internet usage. I use 8.ta so never needed it.
Never to old to learn Marg
