Isuzu 3lt or Ranger: Both Plus/Minus 2016, D/cabs, 4X4. and Auto. Which one??
Good day all. I am about to buy a Jurgens Elegance which is 1800kgs. Does anyone have experience in towing this van with either of these vehicles. I specifically did not mention which Ranger as there are so many options, engine and gearbox wise.ÃÂ
AS an alternative. Would a 2.2 lt or 2.5lt do the job??
We will shortly be starting a planned 4 year tour of our country. Can't wait.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Cheers.
Welkom hier op die forum.
Al weer oppad iewers heen.
Welkom Alan
Welcome to the forum Alan. Both good tow vehicles and should not have a problem towing with either
I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Alan, the important measurement is the Tare weight of the towing vehicle vs the GVM of the caravan. If the GVM is 1800kg then the Tare mass of the Ranger or Isuzu must be more than 1800kg,
regards
We have a Ranger 3.2 and tow a slight lighter caravan (but after the wife has packed we can easily match the weight of your caravan ðŸËâ).
Nevertheless, we have no issues towing uphill or downhill. There is enough torque to do the job. Fuel consumption from Gauteng to KZN vs. Gauteng to Limpopo are big. On average 6.5-8.5 km/l vs. 9-10 km/l.
At the time we bought the Ranger the Isuzu was also an option. And if I recall the Isuzu can also tow 3.5 ton.
I am happy with the Ranger.
On another note my sister has an Isuzu and swears by it. Reason being is that a master motor technician friend of hers says and I quote ''it is the motor / brand with the least issues''.
Hooked, now we can go camping.
Alan, my fellow members on this forum will tell you that you can tow 3,5 ton in accordance with the specs of the manufacturers. That is a pipe dream and is only true IF you are in Australia or elsewhere. In South Africa, you may only tow what is allowed in the National Road Traffic Regulations AND that is not 3,5ton.
Welkom Alan ek sleep my sprite swing met Ranger 2,2 XLS auto hy sleep soos n droom sterkte met besluit
Haak daai wa kamp bly koning
Alan, five years ago I towed an Elegance from Durban to Warmbad (Limpopo) with my 2014 Ranger 2.2 XL Plus 4x4 manual and did not experience problems even to conquer Van Reenen's Pass! By the way, the Ranger's odo reads now 110 200 km without any problems. The 3.2 l or new 2.0 SiT and 2.0 Bi-Turbo will do even better than the 2.2 as tow vehicles. Isuzu is a trusted brand and you will also get good service from it. Test drive both and decide.
