Home is where we park the caravan
Now at Kardosie caravan park, about 10kms east of Citrusdal. Arrived here last Wednesday 1st feb and 2 days later the aircon stopped working, it stopped getting cold.
Approached the owner of the park and asked him if there was anyone in the area who could do a regas, said i was in luck as he has a bottle of R22 gas and the instruments needed to refill as he does his own aircons and fridges in the butchery they have here.
He sent his handy man around with the equipment and he filled the gas, however we soon discovered there was a leak as it was not holding pressure. Now to find that leak without wasting anymore gas.
Thought about it for a while then parked the bakkie at the nose cone, connected my 12v compressor to the battery and made a make shift fitting to connect the compressor to his gauges and filled the system with air, filled a spray bottle with a soapy solution and started spraying on all the connections and joints, an hour or so later found a small pinhole in the condenser.
Removed that whole unit out the nose cone and stripped it , fortunately the hole was at the end of one of the tubes where it doubles back and once stripped it was easily accessible .
Took it down to a local engineering place i found in Citrusdal and they silver soldered the pipe, did a very neat job. Assembled the unit and replaced it back in the nose cone [ had no idea how heavy these units are untill now ] not surprised now why i could never get the nose weight anywhere near spec.
Anyway the park handy man came back with the gas , and 4 days later the aircon is working perfectly again, and none to soon as the temps here are running in the upper 30's here this weak.
two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

George, enjoy Kardoesie it's a lovely park with awesome views of the valley. LOL in the first post picture of the aircon with the exposed fan, I at first glance thought it was your boats prop ðŸËÅ
Nice, enjoy the stay. Another story of country folk being fantastically helpful. (As per Fred's thread)

Looks good George! Especially pleased that you don't cover the grass with a ground sheet ... always troubles me when people do that. I fully realize the use of such a sheet, but when nature provides her own ground cover ........

We never use ground sheets on grassed sites, we like the feel of grass under our feet. And i have a small Ryobi electric weed eater to keep it in trim.
