Bikers, Landie owners, truck and bus drivers (and untill recently caravanners) all have one thing in common: they say a friendly  "hi" when passing each other on our roads. This weekend underway from PE to Stormsriver it struck me once again that maybe this habit is dying out.

What's the feeling out there?  Whatever the case may be, if I see you I'll still say "hi, enjoy your trip and drive safely"

Hein

I always greet fellow caravanners on the road wherever we go camping. I must be honest in saying that in certain areas in Gauteng the people don't always greet back, but the friendliest people on the road according to my experiences is north of Pretoria, Eastern Cape and on the Garden Route, as well as west of Roodepoort.
It will be nice when we can always be friendly to one another on the road and at the camping site. It only makes caravanning and camping so much more enjoyable.

As a first time caravaner, I took my first trip to Salt Rock in September. I have never waived at so many people I don't know. My wife asked if I knew the people that waived at us. Caravaners and Campers are just as fiendly at camp sites.

Ek waai en flikker ook nogsteeds my ligte al word daar soms nie terug gegroet nie. Vriendelikheid kos niks nie en ek sien ons kampeerders as een groot familie.

Hein, you will probably find that most of the non-greeters are from Gauteng, hell bent on getting to the PE by the sea. In GP, drivers will only greet or flash their flickers to say thank you, when they are way out of town. "We own the road!!!!!!"
