I see Kyalami are hosting an intercontinental 9 hour event 21-23 Nov. I remember camping many times at the track as a youngster during the good old days of the 9 hour . It used to be an awesome weekend. I wonder if camping for the weekend will be allowed - I don't think so even though I see at all the international tracks that they do have camping areas designated.
Sal nie weet nie.
Ek sal so iets like.....
Good memories and certainly an event to pencil into our "pensioners" diaries
The ole Volvo`s , Renault Gordini`s Alfa`s , David Piper`s Ferrari , Mike Hailwood ,,etc etc brings back fond memories
Lets go !!!
Would like to confirm the camping but as with a lot of things I doubt we will ever enjoy camping at the track as we did many decades ago. I think the old track with the dusty road made it easy to move around. Having the disco behind Crowthorne was just one feast. Also the whole way of erecting structure to be higher up and parking your vehicle next to it is just something one will never be able to do again.
All in all I just liked the old track more than the new layout even if the new one is also graded for Grand Prix events.
Ja dit bring verseker "good memories" veral die ou baan uit die jare toe mens nog jonk en mooi was. Ek en n maater het self die bande daar bietjie warm gemaak.
I've had the pleasure of driving a Ford GT40 around Swartkops and would have loved to have driven it on the old Kyalami track. Would have been sensational. Nothing like the sound of that V8 right behind your seat
Memories was baie jare laas daar
Jip, great old days! Enjoy these photos taken at Killarney during the previous event of Classic Cars.
The racing is now in oppisit direction, previosely clockwise, now anticlockwise, whole track now build up, in stands and corporate offices, no space for private stands or platforms, also think no overnight facilities. Kayalami (think Ezulu for house of noise), use to be long distances from Joburg and Pretoria. At start of every year, there use to be international teams (Honda, Macclaren and others) testing their F1 cars at Kayalami, us to get a lott of attraction
Sal lekker wees om die goeie ou dae te herleef.
Daardie reuk van 'n wedren bly lekker.
Never been there. The closest I got was building my Scalextric track same as the original track.
But I did enjoy the racing........................ that is the Scalextric racing now.
