Recently purchased and on our second trip and thoroughly enjoying! But do want to make some changes/additions.

I would love to replace the halogen downlights with LED but keep the holders with the switch on them. Anyone know of a downlight product that would fit the original holder?

More difficult i think, the tent and rally tent are complete but would love get sides and front for the main tent patio. As Jurgens no longer exists any ideas on best way forward? Also, can the rally tent be added to the main tent?

Dependant on where you are based, there are many private manufacturers all over the country and they will be able to custom manufacture sides etc for you.
Maybe state here from where you are and forum members in that area/town can advise on reliable manufacturers? Visit them, get names of previous customers (to ascertain quality of work) and get quotes. The rest is then up to you....

Such service suppliers should also be capable of making the rally tent 'zip' onto the main tent??

 

Thanks Egbert! I am in Sabie so closest city is Nelspruit. I assume one would have to take the tent and probably the whole caravan to them to get the correct measurements, so the closer the better.

I did the LED conversion which you intend on our 1984 Sprite. I just removed the tubes and connected the LED's which I bought at Builders and mounted them inside the fluerescent tube units by way of double sided tape. They were strips with I think 12 LEDs and had switches onthe units. These I kept them switched on and used the existing wall switches instead.  Easily done and it looked exactly as before. I also mounted the same type with a lesser number of LEDs as bedlamps just as the were using the built in switches.  The light of these were a bot harsh to my liking so I dimmed them with yellow plastic strips that were part of the LED kits. This gave a plesant calming ambience. This was a few years ago and the same items might or might not be available any more.

I purchased a 10mt Roll Length of LED Strip, cut them into size and solder wiring together and problem solved with better lights and it work on 220V.

The Penta caravans lighs the same as Fleetline are not according to my specifications and improved lights into our ex-Penta.

I placed LED Srtips into the cupboards etc...

To get to the Panels:- It is better to take the caravan with.

When I had the Swift, the guy mentioned I must bring my caravan for measurements.

I noticed Rats on his "Plot" and noticed also a Swift which he was working on.

My reccomendation to him was, is to take measurements from that caravan, because my caravan is not used to Rats.

What a "Disaster" = After paying him R3k, I gave mine away.

NB: Observe the place if your caravan need to stay over for a week or plus before leaving it behind.

 

Most of the large towns do have a Chinese Mall somewhere Have a look there you will probably find the correct led replacement globes. I ordered the led down light globes from Temu. Just needed to trim the little pins shorter and removed it from a small plastic housing to fit properly.

I am in the process to replace the main tent of my caravan.  Although Jurgens factory is not there any more the suppliers are.  You can go to any Camp World or Leisure World and they will be able to order it for you from the original supplier.

I ordered mine this past Saturday. Was told waiting time for delivery is about 6 weeks.

Then if you go the other manufactures way you will get a good product but probably not matching material.

I mounted small round battery powered LED lights inside all the cupboards under each shelf. Under the shelves under the sink where the pots and pans are kept I mounted motion sensing round lights. All are battery powered and the batteries last for months..... if you remember to switch the non motion ones off.

Leon is 100% correct. You can order the tent from any Camp Life or Leisure World. They order from Howling Moon who are the Original Tent Manufacturers. I must say that in some cases the material is not exactly the same as the original as the original material is ususally no longer manufactured or there isn't a batch match available. Also, Loftus Caravans have some of the original tents / components in stock.
