Pragtige uitsigte.

Voel mens darem mens kamp in die berge as mens by Mountain Splendour sou staan....of is dit oop vlaktes?

After reading PaddyandPaul's comments a few weeks ago, our choice was made.

We will visit Mountain Splendor either going to, or returning from the Skipper rally in mid November, and visit Dragon Peaks sometime next year.

( thanks for the advance feed back, this forum rocks )

We are currently at Hlalanathi and find it extremely pleasant although currently not many vans (only two today!). The chalets seem to have guests on a regular basis. The park has an on-site restaurant and golf course (at extra cost) as well. The mountain views are stunning from the front sites. However most days have been 'hazy' so far, so still waiting for the right picture moment!

About 10 km's up the road you have the Royal Natal Park with plenty of hikes although it is very dry in the area at the moment and I believe the waterfall is not flowing.

Dragon Peaks and Mountain Splendour are more or less the same distance (32 and 29 km's) from Winterton.  We visited Mountain Splendour last week and are moving there later this month. The upgraded main ablutions are superb. We have previously visited Dragon Peaks but did not do so on this occasion as we have always preferred Mountain Splendour.

As always it depends what you are looking for. While many may differ with me, I believe the Winterton area offers more to do and see in the local area. Boys Choir, Raptor Centre, Weavers, Candle Makers, Valley Bakery, etc.

Oh and did I mention Valley Bakery!!

Ek weet nie of die Mountain Shadows by Kamberg nog bestaan nie.. Was daar met my renault en jurgens Expo...

Van daar af is dit klipgooi af see toe.

Hi most places are on the route (R600) from Winterton to the parks (Mountain Splendour and Dragon Peaks)

Valley Bakery about 5km's from parks and KwaZulu Weavers and Candles about 15km's. In between you will also find chocolate making, micro brewery, honey products, etc.

The chat here makes me want to go there NOW.

Specially the "Valley Bakery".  Sounds like a bakery next to the N2 in Pletenberg Bay called "Time and Again".

Yes time and again you are back to buy something.  Whether it is sweet or salt You will be back.

Are there any locals doing their washing in the river close to Hlalanathi at this stage?
