I have a booking for double Mouth ( next to Morgan’s bay) for the 24 September long weekend. Which campsite can you recommend? Shelter from wind is main priority.

Dankie

We were there during Easter 2017. I think stand 12 or 13. The wind was pretty strong even though it’s at the back of the ‘basin’. I think all the stands at the back should be ok, bar 1 to 4. I’m guessing that 4-8 and 13-16 would provide the best shelter. The ones cliser to the middle probably has the best ocean view.
Take your wind shelter.

Hi Mawonga - I see you are also from the East London, so must know that this is normally our windy season, with winds blowing from both east and west. When the wind blows strongly it tends to swirl in the horse-shoe shaped valley so one would assume that the stands further back would be more protected. We have always camped along the front sites, near the center, for better views and easier access to the ablutions. I always have storm-straps on hand but have never had to use them at Double Mouth.

P.S. - I designed that site map a few years for Eastern Cape Parks after they sent me a poorly hand drawn map - last time I was there they were erecting a new building where the washing lines are shown on the map.

Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )

Yep - tents are allowed and there are electrical outlets at all sites methinks.
I contacted them through reservations@ecpta.co.za. But don’t remember if I received a reply from that address.  Maybe find the Eastern Cape Tourism Association on the web and see what booking options they have.
