Looking through historical reviews on campsites etc., it is often difficult to believe how divergent the views of members can be. I looked through a few reviews on Dragon Peaks, and couldn't believe how poles apart some views are from others, especially over the same period! Be that as it may, and having had the privilege of experiencing a great many caravaning and campsites, particularly in the Western and Eastern Cape, and a few in KZN, DP is the absolute favourite of my wife and I. Our willingness to trek about 1700kms from Cape Town to get there bears testimony to our devotion, and its our 3rd visit there in 3 years.
Unusually, we spent the Xmas holiday period there (20-31 December), since with grown up children we have the privilege of being able to travel out of the long holidays. Not surprisingly, DP was very full when we got there, but our experience was entirely positive throughout. No loud noises or music at night, except for the sound of kids having a ball (THAT'S music to my ears), and so much to do. For mountain bike enthusiasts, they've gone to considerable efvfort to establish some gorgeous MTB rides of varying difficulty, fishing, golf nearby, hikes and walks, big swimming pool, great places to see nearby. Probably most importantly for me was that nothing was ever too much of a problem for the staff. I highly recommend this venue to anybody!
We took a trip to see Mountain Splendour's facilities and were also impressed with what we saw. This is a popular MTB venue, but for me the not too central smallish pool and excessive shade throughout were negatives. Everybody to their own though.
Wilbury thanks for the info will put it on my list for some trips to come.
We enjoyed it there. Would'nt tow there from CT though...would end up chucking one of the kids out the window!!!
Now now Andrew cant be that bad, although I often had the same thoughts when mine were still young.
