Dear fellow campers,
Having enjoyed being a part of this forum for a very long time, I usually confine myself to offering advice where I think I can make a sensible contribution to my fellow campers' improved enjoyment of the lifestyle.
I have tried not to get involved in the constant and often vociferous criticism of the various resorts which appears to have become an unfortunate trend of late.
Even though I am sure that most of the complaints are justified and I am totally in favour of "naming and shaming" under the correct circumstances, I feel that we should be careful not to transform what is essentially an social interaction platform for campers, old and new alike, into a "complaints forum", or we run the risk of allowing the "Advice" and "Camp Talk" forums to self destruct.
I would like to suggest to Willie Bromehead that we encourage a certain protocol for forum users with respect to critique of specific resorts (even those implied and not named)as follows;
The forum user should first of all be willing to identify himself/herself by name (not Voortrekker? etc., thus having to log on with a name and surname and more importantly whilst criticising the resort demonstrate or indicate to fellow forum users that he/she has exhausted all normal channels of having a complaint attended to by the resort management /owners concerned, prior to posting on the forum.
This should ensure that only genuine problems are aired on the forums, which could then hopefully contribute to a better camping experience for all (resort patrons and management alike).
Regards and happy camping
