CaravanParks.com Gariep Dam Rally

There has been a request to hold a CaravanParks.com Rally at Gariep Dam. This is more or less half way between Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Anybody interested.

It will be a NO GO if we get less than 20 (twenty) forums members interested and committed.

Interested Forums Members get your names down with a possible date for the Rally.

Willie, when will be a good time (weather wise) to go there, and what will the proposal be for the length of stay?

I will follow this one with interest, I am planning a tow down to Capetown area for April 2016, if this falls with in my timeframe, I will fit it in. BUT, this is of coursce only one persons suggestion.

April 2016 IS starting to sound good.

I have just looked at 2016 calendar.

At the end of March, we have the Easter weekend. 25 to 28th

Any more suggestions. We will need to get cracking if we want Easter weekend 2016.

Sjoe, that means 2 long treks in one month .... The Cape Cycle Tour ("Argus") will take place on 6 March next year - they brought it forward by 1 week.  We normally go down the week before the race and come back the week after - not camping though, so ..... ja, OK, we're - provisionally - in.

(Would be nice to combine that with a camping trip down to the Cape, we'll see.)

If in April 2016 me my wife and ellie are totaly commited to go !!!!!!!!!!!

April is good, and Gariep would be a nice break for the towing down to CT.

Gariep could very well give discounted rates for a good group.

Gariep Forever Resort is 'n heerlike kampplek, sinvol geleë vir 'n saamtrek uit alle oorde van die land. Mooi skaduryk met groot staanplekke. Aangename ablusies, maar ongelukkig redelik ver en opdraende stap om dit te bereik  -  so geplaas vir die talle oorstromings as die dam oorloop.

Ek twyfel egter of daar oor die besige Paasnaweek en binne die skoolvakansie, nog plek sal wees vir 'n groot groep van 20+ karavane.  Dis 'n gesogde oord vir karavaanklubs.

Ons vertrek ongelukkig (gelukkig !) Kruger Wildtuin toe later in April en sal dus nie so 'n naweek kan bywoon nie.
