Hi everyone

We have just purchased our new Jurgens Expo caravan. I would really like some feed back as to what parks in and around KZN can be recommended. Also any tips for us. We are over 60 so are hoping to get away a lot with our Van and spend as much time as we can exploring our beautiful country. Many thanks

My favourites are Natalia, Rocky Bay and Ifafa.

Rocky Bay and Ifafa are right on the beach.

Natalia is a 300 meter walk.

There are many others, just click on the RESORTS TAB

Enjoy your new Caravan!!

Hi, I was interested to see your surname. I was also a Klopper and wondered if we are related in anyway. My father was Chris Klopper the Natal rugby captain. I am also 60. Maybe your parents might be related to my parents in some way.  We are also new to caravaning but have camped a lot but with a large tent. A lot of the caravan parks on the south coast are very nice it depends on how rustic or if you are looking for a star graded camp. Do you want to fish or just go for walks on the beach. We love going to Mc Nicols in Bazley right on the lagoon and easy access to the beach which is a graded camp. Villa spar is a smaller graded camp but you have to go up stairs over the railway line to the beach. Most the dams are very nice as well. We are going to Happy Wonders next. I dont know what is like as we have not been before, but you camp right in the trees on the beach sand, but you have some luxurys.  So it depends on how rustic or if you are still looking for home comforts. Good luck

Thanks so much for your help. Today we took a drive down the coast and popped into Mac Nicols at Bazley. What a lovely Caravan Park. I see there with some new stands facing the Lagoon( new to US). Then we drove to Port o Call at Trafalgar and T O Strand at Port Edward.

Port O Call is a cute little park with some lovely grassy sea view sites ( sadly they dont offer any specials for longer stays or pensioners) The Beach here is awesome.

T O Strand is looking good too. Lots of new large sites, very neat. We loved the sites facing the river(for fishing)

I have made a booking at Port O Call for June. We have stayed in the chalets at Happy Wanderers . The caravan sites look very sandy and are under the trees, SO in Winter it will be cold. You need full sun in Winter I think.

Cant wait to get packing. many thanks for all your Help and input

Kind regards Yvonne

Yvonne may I be as bold as to suggest Pumlani Caravan Park at Manaba, the park is centrally situated between Uvongo and Margate on the South Coast, it has 40 stands mostly grassed with shade, only 800m from Manaba Beach which has a tidal pool 500m from the shops and 1.5km from Margate, pensioners rates also apply, the telephone number is 0393120482 or 0762657179

Hi Yvonne,

I see you have had many replies.  My advice to you is to go and see the parks, go right in and take a walk around.  One park that is often under-estimated is Hibberdene.  It is on the river, quiet and the bird life is out of this world.  The ablution is not modern, but the water is always hot.  I belong to the CCSA and we camp at various parks once month.  You are most welcome to join us at one of our camps.  See website www.natalnomads.za.org. Regards Monika Nell

Hi, Yvonne,

You can call in at Corian's in Pennington.   Ian and Cornelia will welcome you.   It is a lovely park with 24-hour security and about 90 meters from the the beach.   Clean ablutions and always have hot water on tap.   Give it a try!

Regards,

Marius

Hi Yvonne,
Am also new to caravanning. Just spent a week at Leisure View caravan park in Leisure Bay (Port Edward). It being out of season we virtually had the whole park to ourselves. Security was excellent though. Ablutions very good and from stands 1 to 6 you get a good view of the sea. Bird life plentiful. The owners, George and Kathy are very helpful and caring people.
A lovely place and worth a visit as well. I will definitely return there
