Is there a decent caravan park in Nieuwoudtville where I can pull my caravan (on-road) in for a few nights ?
Short gravel road will be ok 😬
The Municipal caravan park is beautiful, although depending where you park, the distance to the ablutions may be round up to 120 meters. Road is not bad at all and very accessible for an on-road caravan. Although not busy, we were on both occasions assigned to a specific stand - think the camp supervisor takes some pride in that!! 😀 The stands are in between boulders which immediately leads to privacy. Lovely. Not expensive either, and some good scenery around. As you come into town, you turn right and go up (west) to the 'park, about 800+ meters
Do yourself a favour and visit the Motorcycle museum (as you turn right to the campsite) - dusty bikes for sure, not properly arranged, but man, there are some beauties there.
The area around is beautiful, sandy, dry and lovely . The Quiver forest is a MUST!!
The town is very poverty stricken, so there are some beggars around the shop, so spare a few cents??
Groenrivier Guest Farm. See link underneath.
We stayed there for two nights during August 2017. Only five or six sites, but each one with its private ablution. Very acceptable camp site on the outskirts of Nieuwoudtville.
I'll second Groenrivier, stayed a couple of nights end Nov 21, thanks to recommendations here. Sadly bad weather curbed all the birding and sightseeing opportunities. Need to get back there.
Thanks Nico, Chris & Richard your comments are appreciated. Will post which one we stay at when we get there around end July / early August 👍
