Morning Campers
I am looking to camp in KZN for the first time. Please assist with details of camp sites you would recommend with direct access to the beach.
Thank you in advance.

Scottburgh, right on the beach (main beach 5 minutes walk away), right in front of the park a basically "private" beach (not for swimming though) but nice for fishing and lots of rock pools for the kids. Others down the coast include Rocky Bay (5km or so from Scottburgh) also direct on the beach. Further on Caravan Cove (but you have to cross a railway line...not so nice). Same with ATKV Natalia but also not on the beach, you need to walk a bit and cross the railway line (but a very nice park). Suggest you decide which one you fancy, go there and then spend a day or so checking the others out for the future...eventually you will find one that you like and tend to come back each year. We have been going to Scottburgh for the last how many years and although an older park it is kept spotless and we just love the sea and beach spitting distance from the 'van not to say the noise of the ocean in your ears (why else go to the sea if you cannot hear and see the ocean!) When do you intend to go to KZN?

(Oh and all those parks mentioned above are on the South Coast, some more on the North Coast you can also check out)

More south you can try TO Strand or Port o Call in Trafalgar. There are more parks that is not right on the beach...but no need for a car to go to the beach. When do you want to go?

Happy Wanderers. At Kelso. It is an oldish camp with not much refurb but you just past the flats and you are on the beach. 40m from some stands. You can also look on google maps and see the camp and the 2 stories of flats.

There is about 1km of gravel road to the camp.

For security I like De Voetplaatpark with private lockable gates to the beach. Very nice food at Orcas Pub right at the gate to the camp. Worth a look when you camp nearby. Sunwich Port between Port Shepstone and Hibberdene.

Umtentweni on the river but about 1km to the beach.

Can someone confirm where does the train stop going south as it seems the rails are no longer in use at Hibberdene.

ILLANGA caravan park on Banana beach , very close to De Voetplaat Park. Right on the beach, fenced and lovely shaded stands. If you are into fishing , this is the park for you .
We go there every year ...
