Where to find and any suggestions. Fortuner 2012
Google Air spring supply company. Had same fitted to Prado and what a pleasure!!
Agree. Just stay with the known suppliers to ensure fiuture maintenace needs can be met.
This will probably exclude the China malls.
Should I rather upgrade the back coil springs? any suggestions.
Stan i own a 2013 Fortuner with a Jurgens Fleetline. Why do you want to fit coil spring air helpers? Do you experience any problems with your Fortuner's rear end?
As mentioned above google:- assc.co.za
They are in Jet Park and did a fantastic job fitting to my rear springs.
I had a problem with my Discovery 4 XS which is fitted with coil springs. The rear suspension could only carry an additional 375kg load due to Land Rover keeping the ride soft to emulate the air suspension.
The Commander and later the Penta pushed the rear down. Looked like an overloaded bakkie to Mozambique. I could not fit air helpers due the shocks running inside the coils and the chassis construction did not have space. Nobody could help. Not even Land Rover (except fitting an air suspension which I wanted to get away from). I had 2 air suspension Disco's before. Selflevelling causing you not to see the push on the towbar.
I then got the Toyota dealership in Malelane's 4x4 shop to fit a set of Old Man Emu springs increasing the load capacity by a constant 200kg, lifting the vehicle 510mm.
Since then, no sagging when hitching my van (20-25mm) with a very stable tow. I had to fit a drop plate to get the van to ride slightly nose down.
Hi Piet G
Also Fortuner with Fleetline and going down to the cape I had it bottoming out a few times.
I just want to mention I had three adults in the back.
The air springs that I had fitted were done by Safari 4x4 (now closed due to Jurgens woes) and they are truely worth their cost. I tow Sensation Vee and before fitting the air helpers the Prado (TX without the air suspension as in the VX) would bottom out on the road to Manyane-now it remains level and I only pump the air helpers to 2bar.
Stan in 2013 when i bought my Fortuner i had the same experience. I then fitted a drop plate on the Fortuner and drop my tow ball one hole. The Fleetline then runs very slightly nose down. Since then (2013) it towed the Fleetline like a dream without any incidents whatsoever. Hope this helps.
