It's all happening at the Beeld Holiday Show from today until 16 Feb 2014
Thanks for the pics for those of us who cannot get there
To wide for me 600km to check the show,
Been there today. Unless you have something specific in mind that you need info on or wish to buy, give it a pass. A c-tek battery charger (5amp) which I bought for R1299 on Wednesday at Battery4 All in Centurion is on "special" at the show for R1935 !!!!!. Trappers Trading is selling Red Back boots - the best there is - at a bargain R1599.
Met the CaravanParks team which was great and get a copy of 'Kamp en Leef'.. Could again visit the Swaziland stall and pick up their latest Discovery magazine - the best one on the local tourist scene. Even got the people from the KZN stall to go and lift a copy to see what needs to be inside. The latter were not too aware of Gunters sausages in the Midlands or that the hotel at Nottingham Road has the best steak for many miles around !!!!! The caravan exhibits and the minders did not even approach to ask if they could assist.
If you need an outing, go but mind the e-toll roads.
More info. Also saw a bakkie (one of the exhibits) with a dropplate that defies (ignores) the impact of the leverage effect; 8 holes with no added support. Should have taken a photo.
Afrispoor trailers with a GVM of 2000kg. This caught my eye as the data plates are in German. We read on the Forum recently that a Prado cannot tow it. Neither can a Fortuner or a number of other bakkies as the Tare weight will fall short and the vehicles are not fitted with service brake systems. AND of course the salesmen could not provide a ready answer to the question on this topic..
Nothing really for the girls.
What I also miss is useful size packaging of products. Most cleaning or sanitising products come in 750ml. What about a 400ml or even 300ml to make it easier to pack in an ammo box or similar.
Could not be given a logical explanation at the Campworld stalls as to why caravans are equipped with microwaves and supplied with melamine crockery that is not microwave safe!!! We had to buy melamine crockery from Makro to get something that could be used in a microwave.
Feedback for Admin.
If you are preparing a new edition of Camp & Live (Kamp & Leef) check the distance tables. On the Afrikaans copy I got at the show. the distance table for Botswana on page 9 has a mistake in it. See the distance from Martins Drift to Kasane. This is given as 234km. It should be closer to 700+kmas Francistown to Kasane is some 509km.
Somerthings amiss there.
Butts thanks for the info glad i did not go R2000 saved
We were also there Staurday afternoon and found it to be much the same as previous time .... basically only newer models and some new novelties, which we may even have missed previously.
Sorry we missed Gonnie, but did visit the forum's stand AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - and got a branded cap! - Looks triking in red and white (will have to take care - will dirt easily).
Went ther yesterday afternoon and found lots of specials as people wanted to move stock. Braai that was selling at campworld on show special for 790 I got forn440 and foldup cubords for the kids tents for 250.Also bought 42L Snowmaster fridge for R1400
LOL Leon just ask Durbs to give you the Euro lotto numbers
And because of ths show I might be getting the new Jurgens Fleetline with the silver/grey interior... never going again :)
