Been there today.   Unless you have something specific in mind that you need info on or wish to buy, give it a pass.   A c-tek battery charger (5amp) which I bought for R1299 on Wednesday at Battery4 All in Centurion is on "special" at the show for R1935 !!!!!.  Trappers Trading is selling Red Back boots - the best there is - at a bargain R1599.

Met the CaravanParks team which was great and get a copy of 'Kamp en Leef'..    Could again visit the Swaziland stall and pick up their latest Discovery magazine - the best one on the local tourist scene.   Even got the people from the KZN stall to go and lift a copy to see what needs to be inside.   The latter were not too aware of Gunters sausages in the Midlands or that the hotel at Nottingham Road has the best steak for many miles around !!!!!     The caravan exhibits and the minders did not even approach to ask if they could assist.

If you need an outing, go but mind the e-toll roads.

More info.   Also saw a bakkie (one of the exhibits) with a dropplate that defies (ignores) the impact of the leverage effect; 8 holes with no added support.  Should have taken a photo.

Afrispoor trailers with a GVM of 2000kg.  This caught my eye as the data plates are in German.   We read on the Forum recently that a Prado cannot tow it.  Neither can a Fortuner or a number of other bakkies as the Tare weight will fall short and the vehicles are not fitted with service brake systems.  AND of course the salesmen could not provide a ready answer to the question on this topic..

Nothing really for the girls.

What I also miss is useful size packaging of products.   Most cleaning or sanitising products come in 750ml.   What about a 400ml or even 300ml to make it easier to pack in an ammo box or similar.

Could not be given a logical explanation at the Campworld stalls as to why caravans are equipped with microwaves and supplied with melamine crockery that is not microwave safe!!!   We had to buy melamine crockery from Makro to get something that could be used in a microwave.

Regards.

Feedback for Admin.

If you are preparing a new edition of Camp & Live (Kamp & Leef) check the distance tables.    On the Afrikaans copy I got at the show. the distance table for Botswana on page 9 has a mistake in it.   See the distance from Martins Drift to Kasane.  This is given as 234km.   It should be closer to 700+kmas Francistown to Kasane is some 509km.

Somerthings amiss there.

Regards

Groete.

Didn't find any caravans of interest, will stick with mine. There was a motor home which caught my fancy but a bit pricy, in hall 5, a Fiat. At around R800 000+

Went there on Saturday. Enjoyed it very much. Yes all the normal things was there but there were still lots more. Sensation caravans had a new model there. Its so new they don't have a name for it yet.

Tradesman ship is extraordinary.

We were also there Staurday afternoon and found it to be much the same as previous time .... basically only newer models and some new novelties, which we may even have missed previously.

Sorry we missed Gonnie, but did visit the forum's stand AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - and got a branded cap! - Looks triking in red and white (will have to take care - will dirt easily).

Hi all,

visited the show yesterday (Sunday) - as mentioned by others earlier, specials were offered from time - exhibitors wanting to move stock before closing time on last day.

Being a keen motorcyclist, I found the prototype "Hauler" caravan quite interesting (should have taken some pics). Essentially the back of the van opens, forming a ramp to the ground to enable a motorcycle to be ridden into the rear end of the caravan - the front end of the caravan looks like a conventional caravan with double bed, fridge etc.
The caravan floor has some tie down points where 2 motorcycles can be tied to the floor. I dont think that the caravan, if ever making it to market, would be great hit in SA as far unit sales are concerned, but interesting nevertheless.

The new Sensation caravan I saw at the show is haunting me. Someone wants to buy a Classique with Mover, TV and Rearview camera system? Mint condition with Main tent and Rally + sides and Mags. R240 000

Wanna Wanna Wanna get myself that new Sensation. Its 2m longer than the Classique but 200Kg lighter. The structure of it so strong you can walk on the roof (I heard) not that I would need to. The tent has a modern look.

Ai money, money, money must be funny in a Richmans world.
