We need to choose between Sondela, Aventura Badplaas and Aventura Warmbaths? Purpose of visit is fun for the whole family from the 5 year old to the grandma, including some 17-22 year olds and a visitor from England. Also going to Aventura Blydepoort, any recommendations?

Hi Amanda
Having been a tour guide for 13 years, I've done a lot of travelling through out South Africa and I would recommend Aventura Badplaas & Blydepoort any time. Warmbaths is too crowded and I did not enjoy it at all !! Quite some time ago somebody had made a query on this web page about Blydepoort. If you have the time to page back, you can read my comments on this resort. Badplaas, you will enjoy verymuch as well. There is a small nature reserve where you can go for walks. You can go horse riding in this reserve too. Bird watching; scenic drives; plenty to do for the youngsters.

Hi Amanda,

Spent a couple of chilly nights last month at both Badplaas and Blydepoort. I am sure the family will find plenty to do at Badplaas with its warm pools, etc. Blydepoort makes a nice base to explore the canyon area.

Hi Amanda
Where are you from, since this can influence your decision?
I can agree that Warmbaths is sometimes overcrowded but so can Badplaas, although, depending on the distance to travel, I would recommend Badplaas. It is a wonderful area and has a holiday and /or queit vibe, depending on what you need. Take into consideration toll fees payable to Warmbaths and Middelburg. Also take season (temperature) into consideration, it will be warmer in Warmbaths now, although the days at Badplaas is nice. I also know that to travel to Sondela you need to drive on a gravel road.

Hope you can make a decision.

Hi Amanda,
We r frm East London and visit the Mpumalange area at least every two years.
Badplaas is my first choice.
We have been going there for the last 12 years and my children r now 17 and 15.
U never see them except for when they r hyngry or need money for a cold drink.
Badplaas allows day visitors but they have to leave at about 5pm or 6pm.
Then the resort becomes quieter and u can really enjoy yourself.
I have unfortunately not been to Sondela.
Warmbaths r crowded.

Hope u enjoy whatever yr decision.
regards
Antoinette
