Good day all,

My hubby and I are planning to relocate to Cape Town surrounding areas, not Cape Town itself but surrounding areas. We want to caravan camp for a few months to look around and see where we want to permanently relocate to. We are therefore looking for a longterm camping area, safe, nice, clean and not expensive.

Any suggestions please? I really would appreciate it

Regards

Ester

I would suggest that you contact Hardekraaltjie in Belville.  The rates are very good.  It is in the middle of Belville, so you are located sentral to all the possible living areas.  There are already a few permanent camping members there.  The ablutions are old but they are kept spotlessly clean.

We stayed there last Dec for 10 days while visiting my wife's family.  Worked well for us.

You can also try Ou Skip in Melkbos. They have quite a few long termers there.

There is a very nice camping ground at Kuilsrivier Golf Club, next to the Bottelary Road.

I cannot get details right now, but seems like they also running JTS Service and Performance Centre.

Laat weet asseblief hoe julle vorder.

Hi Estertjie  - You can try Van Zyl's Rus in Kuilsriver - close to Brackenfell. Very well run camp-site. I notice they are not listed on Caravan Parks, but are still operational. Ph No. is  021-9031991

Hardekraaltjie in center of Bellville ok for a short stay, but close to main road so noisy until about 10pm. Not ideal place to go walk-about at night.

Further out is De Hollandsche Molen near Franschoek - plenty of day visitors on weekends, but there are plenty of rules to control them and they don't have access to campers ablutions.

We have camped at all 3 above - I think Van Zyl's would suite your needs, depending on costs.

Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )

Imhoff in Kommetjie is my eerste keuse as ek die Skiereiland wil ervaar en elke dag ver langs 'n plat wit strand wil stap. Kuilsrivier as ek die Wynland beter wil leer ken. Millers Point as ek myself wil straf.

Onthou egter, Kuilsrivier is gedurende die somer so 3 grade warmer as by die see.

Be who you are and say how you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

I live in Cape Town and know pretty much all the campsites there. I know we all have different opinions and needs but I would go for Chapman's Peak caravan park. Lovely rustic farm setting and close to all amenities.

I have camped at Van Zyls Rust, which is very nice but when I phoned them a few months ago to make a booking for my club, Trekkers laager 8, their rates had gone up but not sure about long term rates.

If you are looking for a spot in the southern suburbs and will be house hunting in the deep south, Imhoff or Chapman's are the best options in my opinion. I see they have both been recommended earlier and rightly so. I stay 30kms away and have camped at both multiple times in the past. Pretty peaceful and malls within 5 kms either way for groceries etc. Good luck! Hope you find your dream house!

Soet wees!
