I have an issue with one of my shocks on the van ( part # 244086) Struggling to find replacements. Tried a few spares places they checked their catalogs, nothing suitable to fit the van.

* Single axle axle up to 1800 kg
* Double axle up to 3500 kg
- Length retracted: 260 mm
- Length extended: 410 mm

The fitting at the bottom of mine has a been torn open after hitting a pothole found a pool of oil on the ground below the shock. Removed it Thursday, I have a hydraulics company here in Vredenburg who are going to do a repair and refill the shock oil just as a temporary solution until we get back to Pta.

Question is does anyone know where I can get AKLO spares from as all the agents seem to have closed down after ALKO closed. 

Loftus are going to get a price from ALKO to import two for me but they say delivery will take 6 months !!!

I‘ve just been through the Gabriel catalogue and I think I‘ve found a replacement. I‘ll contact them on Monday and confirm that I have the correct suitable replacement and then place an order for two.

I figured there must be a " car " type shock that can be used.........

Tks Geert, I have tried them they also don‘t have.

I tried to get shocks to mount on my Skipper a while ago. The van does not have them out of factory. There was non short enough on the Gabriel catalogue but ALKO had suitable ones used on Rubax systems. It was during C19 but the correct specified ones were not immediately available so I dropped the project. Have you enquired if the other group (cant remeber the name immediately) cannot assist? Or perhaps you can try importing them yourself. Maybe you can do it yourself in a shorter time.

Fred, I have reached out to ALKO Germany as well as to Pullingers UK but neither have responded. I am in the process of reaching out to Dethleffs as well.

Hopefully one of them will respond positively.

Sleepwaparte.co.za as well as centuriontrailerparts.co.za indicates ALKO parts on their list. The namer I couldf not remenber is Roadque.  It is worthwhile to try the, just perhaps youmight be lucky.  They all can deliver by courier.

Ok I got two new shocks, Monroe same specs as the ALKO. Just having the spacers made up and will probably fit them tomorrow. Cost for the two shocks R1180.00 and they came off the shelf. Gabriel also have the same spec shock on their listings.
