Does anyone know if entrance to Addo when towing a. caravan is restricted to certain gates and if so, which and directions to this from the N2. I will be travelling from the west, ie, from Cape Town direction. Thanks, Ian
Ian I took the N2 from PE, Then left R335 past Motherwell and then R342. Take you to the Main Gate. As far as I know, Mathyolweni do not allow Caravans as a result of the pass on your way to the main park
Nice park, enjoy.
Watch out for the baboon that P on you. Avoid the trees close to the ablution.
Only the main gate. I think it even mentions it on their website in the maps section. We chose to go the slightly longer way around to avoid Motherwell. Past Colchester.
Stay on the N2 till it meets the N10 at Nanaga - good place to stop for fuel and refreshments - 2 large farmstalls. Continue north on the N10 till it gets to outskirts of Paterson, then turn left onto the R342. Travel 23km to the entrance to Addo National Park on your left - the sign-post is not large, so keep an eye out for it.
Once through the main gate, drive directly to the caravan sites and park your van on a site that suites you before going to reception - you cannot reserve a site at Addo. The entrance road to the caravan sites is on your right just as you get to the buildings.
I think we were on site C31. If you have not read it elsewhere, take short and strong tent pegs or even a drill. Ground really hard.

And a battery drill with long concrete bit.
Ground serioulsy hard! I also have a long 10mm concrete drill. Use only the main gate.
