Bykans 14 000 kilometer in twee jaar gereis.

Hi Tinyiko, I would recommend that you phone the number below of Tom Campher Volvo in Joburg. Speak to Gert Campher or Japie. They will sort you out in minutes. I am confident that they will be able to give you the correct advice. Don't let anybody install a towbar on your Volvo.
I hope you come right. Please give us some feedback on your experience with above Dealer.
The number is (086) 1865861
Cheers vir altyd

We were faced with the same problem but did not like the layout of the current gravel- roaders and off- road caravan so decided to convert our Raven into a gravel - roader, known as a Nomad. The job was done by Kempton Caravans and they did a good job. They upgrade the axle and lift the caravan with off- road size tyres. Tested the caravan on the gravel and potholes without a problem. Whether this was a good financial decision will only be able to be judged in a few years time.

Thanks almal. Pat, does it have an island bed, Shower, toilet and basin? Sorry to ask, What was the cost to upgrade the axle and rims and tyres? That sounds to me like a clever idea and good investment. I would like to share the following with all our friends: Hier is goeie nuus!
Volgens my bron sal hulle in Maart / April begin lewer. Dit klink vir my na die ultimate!
Jammer vir die afr / engels mengsel... Waar is oom Frans of wie was dit nou weer?
Cheers vir altyd

Uhm... ok, ek stem steeds vir die sprites, as jy nou regtig offroad karavaan soek, dink ek persoonlik hoe ligter en eenvoudiger, hoe beter

Hi Schalk - my caravan has an island bed but no shower or basin. None of the gravel-roaders and off-road caravans made in RSA had island beds when I was looking about 6 months ago. The only country where you find big off- road caravans with all you are looking for is Australia and it is expensive. All the USA caravans (known as trailer campers or RVs) have everything you can wish for and are well priced- they have a high ride but I'm not too sure how they will handle RSA potholed roads. The conversion of my caravan cost about R50 000. Kempton Caravans were the pioneers with the gravel- roaders which led to CI producing the Sprite Tourer range. When you find what you want please let us know. Beste groete Pat

Hi Pat, Thanks for the response. I am listening to you and appreciate your positive input and help. As a matter of interest, Conqueror export to Australia. Maybe they did some market research down under. Hopefully they come up with a solution. I was realy sold (and maybe still am) on the Sensation Maia, but it is a bit bulky and big and NOT off-road. I will keep you posted. With this forum, I gather all the relevant info and I am sure now that Off-road is the way to go. Koop reg en kry klaar is my siening.
