The Landrover fest is comming up at Soetdooring...
Now, why don't you guys come along, and you can cheer to your hearts content that we are going to say farwell to the defender,
Then see Kingsley off on his next trip,
THEN, IF ANYONE OF YOU GUYS IN YOUR BEST-OF-THE-BEST can get the swivel ramp...... to balance, I will publically admit that your vehicle is w-a-a-a-ay better than a Landy Defender...
Any takers?
Dis ń goeie uitdaaging 👍👍👍
If I am free that time I would surely come and try. What are the dates.
Sorry guys just found the photo.....
SO BEAT THAT HUH! HUH!
@See Lief... Jolly Avio will fall between the rails.....
EEK the dates...
The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster for us with planning of this years event. We’ve had confirmation from Kingsley Holgate and his team that they will be at the event. Not only will he be there, him & his team will be launching their new expedition from the Landy Festival but the cherry on the top is that Kingsley will be packing up and departing for his new expedition from the Landy Festival and those wishing to join him for the first few km’s are welcome to do so.
With this new development of Kingsley’s involvement he requested we change the date of the event to be able to accommodate him. I’m sure you can understand how hard it is to say no and we are honoured to have him at our event and so we have changed the date. This time it is cast in stone. The date for this years Landy Festival is the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd of August. To find out more and to book your camping spot please visit our website: Landy Festival.
Those who have already booked a camping spot for the original September date need not worry we will transfer your booking to the new date. You have all been emailed already regarding this, if you did not receive that email then please get in touch by emailing admin@landyfestival.co.za
Warren, I absolutely LOVE Soetdoring and will see whether we can make it that weekend.
With regard to the swivel ramp: I have done the 4x4 course a number of times with "Seuntjie" (my Jimny) and surprised a number of people with the ability of this little (standard apart from all the "undies") vehicle - even going where Land Rovers struggled (on 1 occasion there were 5 of them so I am unsure whether or not I could blame the capabilities of the drivers or the vehicles, but fact is, Seuntjie went through and up where they battled). The swivel is another thing though - to wide for my little karretjie! I may also add "fortunately" as it quite a daunting obstacle!!
Nico, Yes I go on bended knee to the Jimny, It is a very capable and competent little vehicle.
Now here is an admission....
My next Landy's gonna probibly be a Jimny...
But I would say this, If one (stock) Landy goes through an obsticle, and another doesn't then I would say "poor driver ability / lack of experience)
But it's going to be full so if you can, then book soon (see link). Speak to Cherise, tell her that that mad Landrover Sitnievasnie put you on to her.....
But yes, the pivot bridge is somewhat of an adventure...
