would like to hear from those in the know , any info on the big fish river caravan park, whats it like etc. have you camped there ?

George - agree with above advice. Whenever I've driven past, there have always been signs of bush-dwellers along the river banks, up river from the campsite. Not my cup of tea.

We have also had a look, but decided not to stay.  

Pity, good fishing area.

Good morning all

I am the proud owner of Big Fish Caravan and Camping. I have read all the comments made and I am of the humble opinion there might be a huge misunderstanding between us and the Fish River caravan park.

We are Big Fish Caravan Park on the Gamtoos river close to Jeffrey’s Bay and not on the Great Fish River. We have never had a safety issue and our caravan park is safely nestled between our pivots of our farm on the bank of the Gamtoos river. We are a family orientated fishing camping site and have beautiful ablutions (as a lady I can vouch for this), municipal water on each site, electricity and a braai stand.

Please check us out. As a small business confusing us with a different business can have dire consequences and to top it you will miss out on a gem of a spot.

I am grateful for stumbling on these comments as it enables us to clear up the confusion. Happy camping.

I will be the first to apologize for confusing your establishment with that of the other caravan park on the Fish River, but I am sure many other people have and will continue to make the same mistake.
Not my business, but maybe a name change would resolve the problem.  I have made a note in Google Maps of your location for future reference.

hi flip, there already is a fish river caravan park on the fish river just down the road from us.

George I think this is where things went wrong. I certainly thought you were enquiring about the park on the Fish River and my remarks were about that park -  did not read the heading properly.

We visited the Big Fish park during 2018 and were quite impressed.

Another example is Willows caravan park, there is one in port Alfred as well as in Port Elizabeth.
