To the braaf deadhead...
Sunday, +- 09:30 Comming from Sun-City to Hartbeespoortdam, Sprite splash, Reg SHD ??? in a white bakkie... (I'm not going to name the make)
I hope you get to read this....
I clocked you on the N4 T at 150..... You think that's clever....
'Till it all goes wrong...
You, holding your steering wheel, with one hand ever so casually wiht your elbow on the window ledge.... You think your'e so cool....
'Till it all goes wrong...
You think your'e "just the man" ....
'Till it all goes wrong...
Get this. Youre' neither cool, or "the man", in fact, your'e neither a good husband or, from the bicycles on the back, a good father... Your wife and children look to you to do the right thing... They know no better, they take from your leadership, and think it's the right thing to tow a van, nose up at 150 Km's..
'Till it all goes horribly wrong...
And you're standing at your wife or childs graveside....
And it's gone horribly wrong..
Still think your'e cool?
Maybe we should start name and shame them!!!!!!!!
Totally irresponsibile!!! The problem is het gets away with it because there is no more legal control and discipline on our roads. He probably lost money at Sun City (and had one too many) and now everybody else must pay because he is in a bad mood.
Sulke onverantwoordelike mense sal jy altyd kry as jy iets sê is jy die skurk
Stupidity!
Selfgesentreerde egoistiese blixem.
Baie onverantwoordelik van my. Nog minder aan my mede padgebruikers. Ek het geen verskoning nie. Sal dit beslis nooit weer doen nie!!!!
Dit is al wat die man sal kan se.
Silumko, Welcome to the forum. Wise words.
Baie dankie sir
Warren
Best article I have read today. You get a thumbs up for this one.
3 weeks ago we were towing to Naboomspruit. A VW Polo with a Venter trailer came past me at normal speed, I recon 120km/h. When passing me I heard this noise coming from the trailer left wheel and said to my wife "just know we will get them next to the road without a wheel" WRAGTAG, ......less than 1km in the right hand lane on the N1 between Polokwane and Mokopane, there stood the car with trucks and cars driving at high speed towards them.
I stopped and helped. 5 Old ladies (very old) on their way for a weeks holiday. I got 4 of them out of the vehicle and told the driver " as ek se nou sit jy voet neer en ry met n mo@#×se spoed na die kant toe"
They were more worried about the wheel gone missing than their own safety in the middle of the road.
Biggest pity is that these bastards driving like you explained cannot read or write and obviously do not read or even know of this Forum.
The ones we get here are normally towing offroad trailers with either 3lt Hilux/Fortuners or Pajeros. With small kids STANDING on the back seats waving to us!
VERY SCARY AND TEREBLE
Dick, I didn't get much more... I was also doing 150........, and hey it's a Loaded Landy....... Even though It's gat a BMW engine....
I specially do not want to mention which make of bakkie, as that will detract form the point....
look, I was doing 120 when he came past...
I only matched his speed from behind @ 150.....
After a while he slowed down to take the Hartbeespoort off and I overtook, to get the rest....
If that idiot feels suicidal, he should go and play russian roulette. He has no right to endanger other road users (including his own family!). No one else wants to join him in his quest for a Darwin award.
On a lighter note; how accurate is the Landy's speedometer? This must be uncharted territory. To quote "IF YOU THINK THIS IS SLOW, JUST WAIT UNTIL WE GO UPHILL"
Warren, it must have been quite an experience for you getting the Landy to do 150km/h. I agree if it get to that speed you cannot look to obtain the other vehicle's particulars. You must concentrate on your own capabilities because you might never experience it again with the Landy.
Haha Just joking!!

It must have been downhill.............
Something for nothing... I'm back in a good mood...
Sitnie's definately masculine... Simply because, apart from a rural Russian peasant woman, I don't think anything feminine and alive can be quite so ugly... and that includes anyone's mother-in-law's...
So when that cantankerous heap of pop-rivitted scrap-iorn decides to get-up-and-go....
Like any seasoned drinker... Give him enough to drink and trust me, just about anything's possable...
And by golly, can he go... When that rev counter hits 3000, and that Garret turbo is spinning at revolutions that approach light speeds, Its like a bleeding run-away-freight train...
150 really ain't that much of a problem.... loaded or not... How the heck do you think I manage to get the wipers to settle at the bottom?.....
Those things (the windscreen wipers) have a mind of their own, they either swipe off the windscreen (and beyond the pillar) or only partially over the winscreen.. (so the "clear" bit is at the bottom, and I've got to duck down and look through the steering wheel to get some kind of idea where the heck I'm going.... Makes no darn difference anyway, they don't actually do much in the way of wiping clean...Do a darn good job of "smearing" though...
Anyhow, enough of the windscreen wipers...
What really bug's me though, is the 3 + 1/2 turns free-play on the steering, (that can be quite a bit of fun)
The oil spots on the windscreen that magically appear out of nowhere, (that no-way-in-hell can the winscreen wipers clean, because at those speeds, and with that flat winscreen, the wind pressure's just too much, so they just do what every loyal British worker does... They simply go on strike....)
And lastly, the really HUGE 4 mile long cloud of diesiel smog from all the gunk that's built up in his poepenschuts)....
Now I'm going home....
In my son's car....
Which rattles and squeaks worse than Sitnie...
Cause he modified it.... Sigh.....
a 2L enjine in a 13000 body????
Warren
Ek het nou lekker gelag.
Imagine a Landy doing 150.?????????
This must be in the world records!!!!!!!
Well done, still a great post!
Ok Warren
I caught you out.
It was a 2lt petrol Hilux, with a dropped suspension, 17" rims with "spinners" all the way from Brakpan.
Am I right?
Warren, het daai 3L racing asbakkies op gehad? Sorry man ek was haastig. Jy moes groet
Very irresponsible driving behaviour . . . I do not even do that speed without anything in tow
I have a voice activated cruise control and she sits next to me, my wife

Ty, You be soooooooo right….
Especially at my age, where anything over 60Km is downright suicidal..
That’s why I bought a Landy… and being used to low range I just keep pedel to the metal
The instigator is my son, (who get’s the bleeding lot when I pop-off, and sadly I'm worth a heck of a lot more dead than alive....)
He jolly well keeps taking the darn thing out of low-range…
HUU! MANNE EK WIL NIKS SE NIE, weet jy wat? I feel like I am in that landy......hahahah!
What an idiot, I think there should be a name and shame thread for idiots like that. People like that are the reason I have a dash cam in my car. I post their videos on you tube on purpose. I have a lost a family memeber to people driving like this so I know the damage it does. Imagine what that speed and load is doing to the caravans wheel bearings??????? They are no designed to operate under those conditions????? Makes me sick man!
