Pak hom net in as ek weet ek gaan hom verseker gebruik.
Ekstra items = Ekstra gewig.
Good idea Potyster. That cover will also come in handy when a winter wind is blowing through the vent.
Nico, during my tour through Namibia I made some make-shift covers for rthe vent to keep dust out.
Cut from thin foam (5-6 mm thick) rectangles the size of the vent opening PLUS 6-10 mm larger.
Open the plastic grid of the vent, hold the cut foam pieceapprox. centered on the inside of the grid, while slowly closing the grid.
The rim of the cut foam (larger than the opening) will then be squeezed between the rim of the grid and the opening.
Although this is not an absolute perfect solution for Namibia (dust still enters, and also in other places), it takes care of most of the dust and should be fine for your purposes on civilized roads .
The tent well if i had one it would be packed away in a store room.
The vents I have cut thick plastic to fit on the inside of the vents which clip off easlily enough. I only use them when I'm going to travel on a gravel road for more than 2 or 3 Km's.
Potyster...brilliant caravan you have there. Just replaced my fridge as well...bit of a mission! I leave the tent in a cupboard in my garage, although at the moment I am putting it up even for a weekend away....thanks to a 20 month old that thinks its fun to wake up at 4am..!!!! At least there is somewhere to entertain her. Fortunately it's a dead simple design that goes up in 30 mins flat.
One thing to bear in mind with the Escape that we both have...for some reason they have a tendency to strip the screw that holds the jockey wheel in place. No idea why since it is the same frame as an older van that did'nt have the same problem.
I have spoken to a number of owners and they all have experienced it at some stage. So keep your toes clear when moving it around, every now and then they drop on you!
I have had the screw on the inside of the Aframe drilled out and replaced...hopefully it will solve the issue.
I towed my Escape with the same Drifter you have (assuming it is the diesel)....it barely even noticed the caravan behind it, even up Cape mountain passes. Brilliant vehicle, BUT don't use 5th gear unless there is NO strain.
Potyster het ook 40 jaar fiets gery, die eerste jaar in my lewe dat daar nie n fiets in die motorhuis staan nie, maar as daai manne so by my vir by kom trek my hard na n punt
