Jurgens explorer 12v wiring
I hope the clever guys can help :)
I removed the 12v fuse to disable the hurricane battery charger, but now my geyser igniter and taps/pressure pump don't work. How do I get these working again? Camping without water is not fun!
Thanks in advance guys!
You will have to replace the fuse as this is the protection for the 12V circuit. The system works the following way. While plugged in to 220V the charger will supply the caravan with 12V and charge the battery. The moment the 220V is disconnected the battery will provide the 12V power for the lights and water pump. With out the fuse the + terminal of the battery is actually disconnected.
Now I need to ask you why do you need to disable the battery charger and operate the lights and water pump. The battery charger will be disabled when you disconnect the 220V.

To disable the charger take out the charger 220v fuse. Not the 12v fuse.

The 12v 20A fuse supplies the caravan.

Leon. I often disable/switch off the charger when the Lithium batteries are full. 13.9v. I take out the 220v charger fuse.

Many thanks for the comments guys, I'll try it tomorrow.
Much appreciated

Okay thank you. It's understandable that you would want to do that to prevent possible over charging of a lithium battery.
I plan on installing a DEFY 12V Fridge Freezer with an extra battery. But I will not go the Lithium way. Just for the sake of not to worry about the special charging of that lithium battery.
I just don't like them FULL STOP.

You will like them once you start using them. They don't realy have any special charging conditions in comparison to Lead Acid. You can even float them at 13.9V if you want to ......but it is not recommended. You can not overcharge any battery (Lithium or LA) at 13.9v.
I basically treat the Lithium battery as a battery that is in storage. I run the caravan on the Lithium only (no charging) and then once every two weeks I switch on the charger for a day or so until the SOC ia 100% and the voltage is 13.9v. The Lithium battery at that stage was about 90% SOC.
Does anyone want to buy my Raylite Silver Calcium 100Ah Deep Cycle battery it is about 4 years old and still in very good condition.

Paul
