Hi All, thanks for accepting me into your fold.

I have recently purchased a 2002 Gypsy Regal which came with a Yellow Blade.
Now being unsure regarding the yellow blade I have found an installation guide which says there is a safety pin on the caravan side of that needs to be inserted once the blade is attached ready for towing, I can see there are holes for the pin to go into but no pin? Does any one have details of the pin or where one can be purchased?

Thanks

Welcome Martyn,

Just make one. Easy enough. There is enough downward pressure of the blade on the plastic shoe for the blade not to jump out, so the pin is just an extra safety precaution.

Thanks all, as per above I am going to get a new shoe with pin as the shoe looks pretty worn.

Blame google translate for the faults, I can read and speak Afrikaans but writing it is a different story.

Not to worry. My normal way of working as well. I would rather replace something with the correct item because that is how it should be.

How ever there are solutions in an emergency.  I would even go a bit further and attach a thin cable to the ring of the pin and other end to the bottom of the "shoe".  Then the pin will never get lost again.

Baie dankie. Maurits

Leon, that was my intention anyway, but thanks for the thought. I am an Electrician by trade and tend to over engineer everything I do. For emergencys there is always bloudraad or duct tape :-)

Thanks, strangely enough I don't go into Brits very often.

I went to Brits Caravans today and although veryy helpful and willing to assist, they had no stock. They are ordering in.

Tell us more about the two black spacers. All I can think of that is black is the two friction pads.

The only way they could break was because the center bolt and nut was to tight.  If this is the case you will have to take the Yellow blade to Trapezium in JHB to get it fixed.

That bolt and nut is set to a specific torque.  The way to do it is to mount the yellow blade in the bracket of the vehicle.  Then hook a pull scale in the hole on the end of the yellow blade.  Pull on the scale and the blade should not move until the scale reaches 36kg pulling weight.  Tighten or loosen the nut to get this figure.

This is probably useless information if we are not talking about the friction pads but as info for the future ................... maybe use full.
