We have often heard about the winter storms in the western cape and earlier on this evening we got to feel the brunt of one, probably the worst storm we have encountered on this adventure so far.

Intense rain coupled with wind and hail for what seemed like an hour has put the entire Plettenburg bay town into darkness , Apart from 3 pegs pulling out our set up stood strong and all is good although a river did run through the tent ,

Down side of a paved stand;  you can only drive the pegs in straight down and consequently 3 pegs pulled straight up.

two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

We were expecting a storm today, but so far nothing.

Happy that your setup survived.

Rained all night in Strand, lovely! No damage on the way to the office as far as I can see.

At home, Riebeek West, planning/dreaming, whilst sorting out garden, ie removing many many weeds to allow lawn to grow instead.

Fred, juis gewonder of julle skade gehad het.

George   Would you perhaps know what the weather is like in Mosselbay  My intention is to go down next week to Die Punt for about 2 weeks  Dont want to sit in the rain and wind

I have been keeping an eye on this coast line weather wise with keen interest , we have another storm warning for the early hours of sat morning, there after the coast line should return to normal , including mossel bay, however dont quote me on this as things can change very quickly on this coast line,

We are at De Bakke at the moment.

Heavely overcast and soft rain for the last two days. Almost no wind.

The locals say it should clear early next week.

We only had 14mm in Table View outside Cape Town but friends in Tesslersdal, south of Caledon had 160mm overnight last Wednesday. Very unusual though as it was a South Easterly wind with a upper cut off low, often called a black south Easter.

I see next rain forecast is for Sunday 16th in this area.
