Air Fryer Versus Small Oven for Camping.
This Question may need the good Lady in your team to help us reach the right decision.
Our Skipper is currently equipped with,
A Gas cooker.
Two Plate electric stove.
A single plate electric induction cooker.
A Gas Braai.
A Charcoal Braai.
We are now contemplating getting some or other small oven, and are not sure which is more suitable for camping a small conventional oven or a small air fryer ( we are totally uninformed on the Air Fryer ).
Looking forward to all of your constructive advice , guidance and comparisons on this matter
Many thanks and go in safety
P. S. We only cook for the two of us.
I cannot say anything about the air fryer but our convection oven is used every day at home and is ALWAYS taken with when camping. Our normal oven is only used for the bigger items that will not fit and drying rusks.
A major plus is the convection oven does not use a lot of power - normally 1200-1500W. Also meat is more juicy when fried in the convection oven.

we have purchased a Remosca Cooker an we are testing all the recipies and found it to be fantastic. it will replace our little oven we have always carted along.

WAARSKUWING:

If I do long term camping, I will use a small conventional oven. Nearly use it daily at home. We also have a small air fryer, use it about three times when we got it and resort back to the oven, much more versatile.

We always take our Philips air fryer with , its brilliant and easy for potato chips ( no oil ),chicken etc and warming up in general.Never used a oven.
Its a bit heavy on current about 2100 watts

we found the air fryer is not all what its made out to be and consequently sold ours.
two roads diverged in a wood and i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

My view is that there are air fryers and “air fryers”. The price is normally an indication of what you can expect.
We bought a cheap one, and was disappointed. My son bought one about five times the price of ours, and they use it to cook the most wonderful dishes.
It is not how old one is that matters, it is how one is old that matters. One do not stop playing because one is old, one is old because one stopped playing.
an air fryer is either you love it or you hate it item.
As my daughter is making food for a living she hate them.
Myself prefer a conventional oven.
I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Interesting. When my wife cooks in the convection oven a school friend would always compliment on how juicy the food is. Well when his wife uses her convection oven he doesn't like the taste and wants her to use a normal oven.

Greetings to all,
Many thanks for your feedback, in the end my Wife made the decision and we now have an "air fryer". Time will tell !!!!

Badger - a word of advice - RTFM - "Read The Flippen Manual" or LDBB - "Lees Die Bliksemse Boek" before using your air-fryer. My wife never reads the instruction manual and our first meal - fried fish - was a disaster. It is important to allow the fryer to pre-heat before putting the food in. Pre-heat time and cooking time is dependent on food being cooked, so follow the instructions. Also, it is not a deep fryer - only a light sprinkle or spray of oil is required. I am sure you have made a good choice.
My daughter also has one as says it makes the best toasted sandwiches.
Been there--done it. ( Talking about the bathroom )
Greetings Douglas,
