Dube private game reserve
Has anyone been recently to Dube ? We have booked there early Jan for 5 days with our grandchildren . How is the access road and the facilities at the resort. Pictures on the website look pretty good. I have read some of the earlier reports where there were some security issues.

We went there last year. They grade the short section of gravel road every second day. Most stands are paved with a shade cloth cover. They have tea and koekies I think every Wednesday morning at 10. There is lots of entertainment for the kiddies. Slides and pools and and. There are also a few permanents who plant gardens. You can self drive around on the farm/game reserve and look at the plains game they have. We just found them a bit expensive compared to others in the area but the camp is very well run and if the paving and shade cloth is what you want they are the only ones that offer it in the area. It is a very neat and tidy camp with continuous attention to maintenance and repair.
For us who prefer the peace and quiet and don't need the play grounds and get togethers and paving will rather go to one of the other places in the area. Like Hartbeeshoek Nature Reserve. Much more basic and cheaper. Start at Dube and go across the road and look at Hartbeeshoek and decide.
Groete,
Paul
Thanks Paul, appreciate your input. We will pop into Hartbeeshoek and have a look while we are there.
Brian, the grandchildren will definitly enjoy Dube more than Hartbeeshoek.
Groete,
Paul
WAARSKUWING:
Kampeer is aansteeklik en verslawend ðŸ˜
Dube is besonders aanloklik.
We had our time as campers as well as permanent.
The time has come and go to say G/By.

Geert yes that‘s the incident I was referring to, but as you say that was a few years ago nothing as far as I know since then, so we are going :)

Dennis we arrive on a Friday and leave the following Tuesday so unfortunately we miss the Wednesday koekies and coffee (: Maybe next time
[quote]1012,250215653[/quotePersonally, I think Hartbeeshoek will be a bit boring for the youngsters.
Dube has everything to keep them busy.

We looking forward to having our grandchildren camp with us for a few days. They will surely keep us busy :) although they now in their teens.
Teens.....Dube is the place for them. Leave them at Dube when you go look at Hartbeeshoek.
Groete,
Paul

Early Teens .... ja just the other day they babies in our arms now, all grown up. How time flies.... especially when you are having fun like camping :)
WAARSKUWING:

Good to know, however we will be there during peak season so I would expect them to have the warm pool functional.
Another great resort in the same area is Kleinparadys Brits. Also a lot to do for the kids such as slides and water features, with the extras of fishing and canoing.
GOD IS ALTYD TEENWOORDIG
Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
Brian explore the Brits area when you are there. It is a haven of bushveld resorts. At Dube on one occasion we had +/- 40 red & yellow billed Horn Bills at our camp site.
Driving along the Magalies Aquafure for 30Km is quite an experience. It was designed by Engineers from the University of Pretoria (TUKies) in 1940. It is regarded as an engineering master piece for it's time. There you can see how water can be made to flow uphill.
Groete,
Paul
Klein Paradys is another very well run resort (very expensive). They close in the winter for renervations. It will be open when you are in the area. Go have a look!
Groete,
Paul
We used to go to Dikohololo as family had timeshare there. So we have been in the area before, but do need to explore it a bit more. Time won‘t be on our side as we are only there for a couple of days.
Dikohololo would not let us in if we were not booked guests.
Groete,
Paul
