SANPARKS Online Reservations: Number of Nights
I am planning a trip to the KNP and need to check on availability of campsites.
This is my understanding for a reservation: First night selected is 24/07 and the second 25/07, departing 26/07. The total nights should be 2, so why does it reflect 1 night. This makes the basket incorrect and hence I cannot checkout.
Can anyone advise on this?
One Life. Drive it!
The 4 x 4 community website said that I select 3 dates on the calendar for two nights.
This worked.
As an extension of the reservation process, there will be 3 adults, 1 campsite and 2 vehicles.
What is the cost of the second vehicle?

If your booking is arriving 24th departing 26th you must select 24th (click on it) and then 26th (click on it). Your last date does not even need to have availability as it is your departing date.
Pay for the second vehicle when you check in at the camp.

Paul
I note that to get pensioners discount you cannot do the booking online but have to phone reservations ?
As an extension of the reservation, I enquired about the costs of a second vehicle on a single camp site.
Verbatim from the email at reservations: "Kindly note that only two cars can occupy a camp site, the extra vehicle is charged a fee per night. Those fees are calculated by the camp"

Correct Brian. You can not get discount on discounted items.

Paul
I have to phone next week to book for Karoo Nat Park :)

The rules state the the charge will be at the base rate for a stand.

Living the dream

Feedback from Reservations is that each camp site charges it's own fee.

Wonder hoe monitor hulle dit...al baie gesien dat daar 2x karre op n staanplek is....volgens my betaal hulle net per persoon
WAARSKUWING:
Kampeer is aansteeklik en verslawend ðŸËÂ

You have a valid point. I have never been approached by SANPARKS to ask for the proof of reservation and that you are on the correct stand etc.

Every vehicle leaving the park must have an exit permit, which is provided when you 'check in'.

Correct, but the exit permit is not used by SANPARKS to check how many vehicles are on a campsite.

Just try to abide by the rules or else you will spoil it for everyone!
Groete,
Paul
If the rules were only clear and the information was available.

An extract from the www.sanparks.org web site. "Rules & Regulations".
"Campsites
Camping base rates include one motorized vehicle per campsite. Additional motorized vehicles per campsite are charged at a rate equivalent to the campsite base rate per night."
The rules and regulations are also in your gate permit booklet.
And on your Reservation Letter. (this is not the master but has the basics)
Per eg for Satara:
"CK6P (CAMP SITE): Extra vehicles are
charged a fee per night, Only one
caravan per stand., Own camping
equipment required, Power point,
www.sanparks.org for more info on
camping rules"
No I don't think so!
Groete,
Paul
Thank you Paul.
Reservations said via email that the cost of an extra vehicle is determined by each campsite.
Mazhou has already confirmed that there is not additional cost for a second vehicle but it must be on the campsite.
This is rather frustating as one cannot budget the costs for the trip.
Also, I have not seen an option when doing an online reservation to specify the number of vehicles.
My only asssumption at this point in time is that you declare the seconf vehicle on arrival and pay for it.... something like that.

Mazhou, Punda Maria and Tsendze, no fees for the second vehicle on the camp site.
One Life. Drive it!
KNP makes this quite difficult as campsite adjacent to the fence attract a higher fee but you are not allocated a specific camp site.
The means I could go and camp adjacent to the fence, not having paid the higher fee, to another camper's disadvantage.
I do not book or take campsites adjacent to the fence.
