Permanant Caravan sites for pensioners in South Africa
Good day everyone, Please to meet you all...New on this forum though not new spending my life in a Caravan park with my folks at a younger age, pretty much back in the late sixties, sounds like yesterday lol.
Anyways I'm sure a lot has changed since then. My wife & I would like to invest in a Caravan with not much finance to our names, both being pensioners and was hoping that someone here could help us with information regarding 'permanent Caravan sites for pensioners here in South Africa'
I have made enquiries with a few Caravan Parks along the coast their rates apply to in season & out of season and some want you to vacate in season i.e. December months oh and a few don't like doggies.
Please could someone give advice to where one can go and not become bankrupt? :-) Many thanks...
To the best of my knowledge there are no caravan parks with dedicated pensioners in South Africa. Having said that, if you go to Tsipise during the winter months you may beg to differ. It is an Aventura Resort, and may be a bit on the pricey side, and probably as far from the coast as you can possibly get.
I know of two caravan parks with permanent residents near to the sea. The one is Kays Caravan Park situated at 54 Woltemade St, Strand, Western Cape.
The structures some people lived in comprised Wendy Houses, and created the impression that it could be a squatter camp in a nice suburb.
Some time ago a fire (as often happens in squatter camps) caused damage to structures in that park. I have not gone past there recently, so my observation may be dated.
The other permanent caravan park near the sea that I know of is Riverside Caravan Park on the Goukou River near Stilbaai. This is a very nice park which is owned on a sectional title basis. I suppose the local estate agents should be aware of stands that become for sale in that park. It is on the river, which streches over 22 kilometers of navigatable water, with the result that most campers are also boat owners. Nice for fishing!
The river used to have another name, which if used today can land you in deep, deep trouble.
It is not how old one is that matters, it is how one is old that matters. One do not stop playing because one is old, one is old because one stopped playing.
Good day, Kanneman, Many thanks for the detailed info it says a lot and well appreciated :-).

Dereck, we camped for a week at Imhoff Caravan Park in Kommetjie last year. There were quite a few permanent caravanners. From what we could see they all seemed very happy there. Their website does not give rates for permanents, you would probably have to go speak to them to find out more. We enjoyed the park very much and it is absolutely well sheltered from the wind. Freda

Many thanks Freda I have tried to get hold of them but their phone just rings, it sounds great so I will keep trying and let you know :-)
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks Joe good to be here...
Areena caravan park is seriously attempting to facilitate full timers and are offering special discounts (3 monthly stays!). Do inquire. Staying too long in one place can be boring. Travel around rather, there's so much to see and do. I do agree though that one should shop around to get the best deal. On the other hand Caravan Parks should see the value of investing in us pensioners. We are very active caravanners.
Thanks for the info.
