I had a towbar fitted by "professionals".
When I bought a towbar carrier box, the indicators would sometimes work and sometimes not.
I was sent backwards and forwards between both suppliers with each blaming the other and even being referred to an auto electrician (supposedly at my expense).
Long story cut short - Eventually, it was discovered the fitment centre coupled the indicators to the wrong set of indicators.
When previously trying to show me the lights work, the boot was open - when the boot was closed, the indicators "behind" (inside) the boot would switch off.

David,
Apart from incorrect wiring, did LED lights have any significance?
I've heard/read that it doesn't work if you mix LED and conventional globes.
i.e. LED on the vehicle and Conventional gloves on the van.

All of mine are the old type and I've made a test box with switches, globes etc to test vehicle wiring and with the aid of a small 12v battery, the van/trailer's lights.
Can come in handy if someone has driven off and ripped the wires out, especially at a remote campsite.
Your strongest weapon is your mind!
And then, Power Tools!

Just thought to share info, Nico.
No other problems have been experienced with lights.
