I have noticed recently more and more posts promoting various resorts as chosen resorts...”Gekose Oord”.

Are these really resorts that are recommended by Admin (or someone), and if so, what are the criteria? Or are they, as they appear to be, simply advertisements paid for by the resort concerned?

The crisp question, I think, is how much weight do we attach to these posts.

These resorts appear in the latest Kamp en Leef magazine and if you have a look at their ratings, they get normally recommended as a good and safe resort.

I have the previous Kamp en Leef downloaded in pdf form on my laptop and phone and therefore if we looking for a decent resort in a certain area, then it is just a matter of opening the app and search for the resorts in that area, which will be acceptable for our requirements.

I do not think this is a matter of trying to make money by advertising certain resorts and getting a promotion fee.

I think admin only select certain resorts, which they recommend to forum members due to the matter of concern to member's safety and requirements.

My personal opinion is that I appreciate the placing of these topics and then google the resorts to get more information and compare them with admin's recommendations.

Hi Louvan

After days upon days of looking for the correct translation of "Featured Resort", "Gekose Oord" was chosen as our winner. Featured being the focus of the English phrase. But in Afrikaans that means Gewilde or Beste or something along those lines. But our "Featured Resorts" have always been all the resorts or businesses that advertise in our annual Camp & Live Guide. It's an added benefit we provide for them. So translating the phrase was important so as not to change the meaning behind the phrase.

So in answer to your question, no, these are not resorts that we specifically chose to show to our readers. These are the resorts that have feaured in our 2019 guide. And they were chosen to feature for that month.

I hope this makes sense. lol

Kind Regards
Jolene

Admin, with all respect, I think you explain this to the incorrect member.

I tried to explain this to "Louvan", which started this topic with questions.

I maybe explained this incorrectly, but still tried to protect with a failure result of an answer to the questionaire "Louvan".

Please, correct the response.

It myself was wondering why the posts came up and reading "featured resort" explains the meaning of the posts.

Afrikaans is difficult as sometimes you actually need a phrase to get the same maning as one word in English.

"Gekose Oord" does not realy have the same meaning as "featured resort" it actually means "Picked resort"

If you meant that "Featured Resort" is a resort listed in the Camp and Live Guide. The best Afrikaans could be..................  "Kamp en Leef Gids Oord van die maand" or "Kamp en Leef Gids Oord" or "Kamp en Leef Oord"   This way it implies that the resort features in the Camp and Live Guide.

Wat is die ander Afrikaans sprekende forum lede se inset op die.

Ek het ook gesoek vir die regte woord vir "Featured"......maar soos Leon sê asof daar nie n gepaste een woord is wat dieselfde beskryf nie. Miskien soos hy noem "Kamp en Leef oord van die dag" ?

WAARSKUWING:

Kampeer is aansteeklik en verslawend 😁

Hello again.

Thank you for your responses. Dk, sorry for my mistake, I have amended my response to show it is for Louvan. As you all can see, it's not the easiest phrase to just translate. I had limited character space to work with as well. So keeping that in mind and keeping the phrase at two words only, was very difficult.
If you can come up with a two word phrase that has the same meaning as Featured Resort, then I would gladly replace the word "Gekose".
Looking forward to see what you suggest.

From a slightly confused Jolene.

No offence and no need to apologise.

Net gedog dat ek alweer onder die valbyl deurlooplaughinglaughing.

I will also think of another word and then place this on this topic for considering.

Kamp en Leef Gekose Oord Logo

May I also point out, that the "logo" already reads as Kamp & Leef Gekose Oord. Which translates to Camp & Live chosen resort. Does this make better sense?
