Anyone stayed at the Balloch camping ground near Rhodes. What are the toilet facilities like and how far is it from Rhodes . We want to camp there 3 days at the end of May instead of staying in Rhodes.
If I remember correctly it is about 30 - 50 km from Rhodes. The ablutions are in a little stone complex. Go in, see if you like it, then stay or move on to Rhodes, which is old but acceptable...
Wè are doing a 4 week trip from KZN so we are booking ahead.
Traveling inland out of season, I would not book ahead.
Being retired means that you do not need to stick to schedules.
Your van can get you to most sites, so just start looking for a site by 14h00. Is this the first trip with the skipper?
You can look ahead, to be aware of what sites are situated where, but I would not do any bookings. Just do the research. When you get there, know what your options are, then check out a site and if not to your liking, move on to the next one that you have researched.
Have a good trip and safe travels (this is after all the eastern cape)...
Campervan we not taking what will be our brand new Skipper but sharing our friends T65 Jurgens tent trailer with a seperate tent. We have planned our whole stay daily, so we spend 3 days at Balloch before we stop for 1 night, probably a B & B in Kokstad so we do not drive through Transkei on Saturday but Monday. We get home after 4 weeks on the road as far as Wilderness the main stops being Baviaanskloof Addo Elephant, Mountain Zebra, and Wilderness.
Lekker om so te kamp en die natuur te bewonder.
