I'm busy planning a roadtrip from Durban to Knysna via the Transkei and decided to stay over in both Port St. Johns and Coffee Bay - with the possibility of one extra night in Kenton-on-Sea before reaching Knysna.

I'll be camping along the route but I'm wondering about the condition of the road - even though I have an SUV, it's got 21-inch low-profiles ;-) Not the best for rough roads!

I'm even considering NOT taking a trailer to minimise risk.

Has anyone done this route in recent months and can anyone share advice?

I've read some good and some bad stories.

Let me know!
Thanks!

The N2 outside the Transkei either side is in good condition. Not sure about road works though.

Problem can only be within the transkei. But even there the roads was said to be okay. Just whatch out for speed bumps.  I think that you will be able to tow a trailer with ease.  Forum members that traveled that strech of road more recently can give detail info.

Keep to the speed limit as speed bumps and stray animals is a big concern in the Transkei part mostly.

Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
