Situated only 68kms from Durban, and 10kms from Scottburgh between the picturesque villages of Kelso and Pennington, and only 300 meters from the beach, we offer you well-grassed shady sites and comfortable two bed roomed fully furnished Luxury Cottages in an environment totally surrounded by lush vegetation abounding with over 120 bird species.

Walk through a well-maintained pathway down to an excellent fishing beach, low tide rock pools and lagoon river mouth where glorious golden beach sand and sun awaits you. We have easy access to the lagoon from the park where paddle canoes are available, as well as a swimming pool and games room located in the resort.

Very much a family orientated resort, there is always something for the kids to do so as to allow mom and dad ample time to either get away and do their own thing, or simply relax in your favourite recliner or camp deck chair, put your feet up with a glass of your preferred liquid refreshment, doze, read, bird watch, or simply take it easy and totally unwind.

The waters off our stretch of coast, sets the scene for an extraordinary annual event ? the prodigious and exhilarating sardine run. Every year during June and July, millions of sardines make their way up the coast, making River Valley Resort the perfect base from which to pursue these little fish. Apart from the fun of catching these little fish, they are also prey to larger fish, and the run provides excellent game fishing in its wake!

The Resort is a bird watchers paradise, where the Spotted Eagle Owl, purple crested Lourie, Paradise Flycatcher, various Barbet?s, Kingfishers, three species of wagtails (the cape wagtail, the pied wagtail as well as the long tailed wagtail) and a variety of sunbirds, can be found here. We have a shop in the park (open all day in season), where gas refills, ice, and free deep freeze space is also available.

Three Internationally acclaimed Golf Courses, inclusive of Selbourne and Umdoni Park are very close by, and Deep Sea fishing & diving can also be arranged.

Other nearby attractions are shopping centres, bowls, tennis, The Banana Express steam train, Crocworld, the Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve, diving charters to the majestical Aliwal Shoal, and deep sea charters.

Situated on the beautiful banks of the Mpambanyoni River, and overlooking Scottburgh?s most popular beach, the Aliwal Craft Market offers a very wide range of quality Arts and Crafts, Indian cuisine, burgers, hot dogs, confectioneries, tea and coffee in a friendly atmosphere.

The bright lights of Durban with its many attractions and amenities, the Umgeni Bird Park, Seaworld, Botanical Gardens and ?Golden Mile? beach front, is well within 45 minutes drive away.
