Camp & Live embraces latest technology.
Our latest edition of Camp & Live is now hot off the press! Eight months of collating information, assigning staff members the task of negotiating with resort managers and owners as well as the industry, preparing and proofing the entries as well as redrawing the provincial maps, Camp & Live goes to the printers right on schedule!
On the 10th October 2011 the CD’s were burnt for Intrepid Printers to get cracking. These CD’s went to their Pre-press department to check that the resolution is correct and that all the files are of the correct size.
A week later, we received the Dyeline proofs which were prepared for us to peruse and do our final check of the publication and do the necessary corrections. By Friday 21st, the finals were sent to Intrepid Printers to start the print run.
The plates were then made and the printing run started on their Perfecting Heidelberg Machine, which is extremely impressive, as it is a totally computerised State of the Art Machine. From there the publication then goes to the Post-Press machine which is the end of the procedure, or in print terminology, “the finishing of the run”. Here the folding, collating and the binding of the sections of the guide are done. The print cover is then “Drawn” on, glued together, the guide is then three-way trimmed, shrink wrapped in bundles and transferred to despatch where they are boxed and despatched to us.
Great excitement! Friday 28th October becomes a half day for SACCTN Marketing and staff! Intrepid Printers invited us to visit their premises and observe the print run of the latest edition of Camp & Live. Without any hesitation, we all piled into our vehicles, and convoy style, proceeded to the Intrepid Printers factory.
The friendly management and staff took us all for a grand tour of the printing process under the guidance of Mr Luiz Mateus. Wow, talk about mindboggling! Rows and rows of impressive and awe inspiring equipment all doing their own thing! You literally put paper in the one side, press a button, and wallah! A full colour, 192 page glossy high quality caravan and camping guide comes out the other end!
