Ok we pack up and leave Strandfontein on Friday.
Destination : Leentjiesklip for a month
Injoy you lucky guy.
Just a small appetiser of what to expect.
And these sunsets.
Great pictures - The sunsets are awesome here on the west coast.
I love what you are doing. Only a dream for lost of folks. Where to from Leentjies Klip?
Hoping to pop in there for the weekend of the 25th...will look out for you if I do. I love that park.
@ Pieta - Ons sal gaan soek. My vrou how baie van vis, ek het you kiekies gesien van die mossels op die braai op die ander draad.
We are going to be in the Cape until just after easter. Plenty to do and see down here
Van Zyls Rus for a month
Swellendam for Christmas - my sister stays there
Then we have no definite plans until Easter when my daughter, son in law and grandkids come down to meet us - we then travel together up to Forever Resorts Plettenberg Bay. From there up through the Transkei towards Natal / Northern Natal
Great thing is that plans can alter we are in no rush to go anywhere, see somewhere we like we will stay for longer.
@ Andrew - That would be great
Yeah have done - send our regards to Liesel
Enjoy. One of my favourite parks. Stunning views of the lagoon.
Pieta always camps on a seafront site but I prefer the centre of the park as the sites are more level and paved and grassy which I prefer for my setup and are on raised tiers so you still get the stunning views. As Pieta mentioned there are some sites with their own ablutions. I try to get nearer the smaller ablution block on the Northern section of the camp as these are definitely better than the main ablutions. I can recommend sites D23, D24, D16 D17 if you go for the centre option.
The infamous Cape South East wind is forecast to blow there this weekend so park facing North away from the wind direction. The weather next week looks lovely as the wind will drop by Tuesday.
For a treat to go out and eat, go to Pearly's restaurant on the beach in the town. Food is very good and the seafood excellent.
Thanks Alex, where do you get your weather info from?
I use WeatherSa
Just hope it's not too windy tomorrow morning while we are on the road
We use the Norwegian weather bureau more often as we find they are more accurate with their forecasts. Go to www.yr.no click on weather south africa etc
Thanks Graham, I'll check them out
I use a site that the wind and kite surfers use www.windfinder.com. They have a page for Langebaan. I find it is a lot more accurate than weathersa.
I was up there fishing yesterday and their forecast was spot on.
Another thing to mention is that the road off the R27 down to Langebaan has some nasty potholes so take it easy.
I'll take it easy- Already have some pothole damage so I'm not in the mood to add to it.
Yes Alex I recommend www.windfinder as well
Ek gebruik AccuWeather.com. Dit gee vir jou die weer tot op die uur en is in die kol. Jy kan dit aflaai op jou telefoon en is te alle tye met die druk van 'n knoppie beskikbaar.
Pieta, if I am not mistaken the pic in your posts is taken at Leentjiesklip? Personally avoid Accuweather. It insists that I am in Montague Gardens when I am in Parklands. Close on the map maybe, but the closer you are to the sea the more you are affected by onshore breezes, mist etc etc....so I find it completely inaccurate for where I stay.
I use The Wather Channel app, and Windfinder.
Lovely supprise here a few minutes ago Pieta was in the area and popped in to say hello. Was great to meet him hopefully one day we will camp together
Pieta, dis mooi julle moet dit geniet
Today for the first time ever since I've been caravaning, I saw resort management remove roudy campers.
Yesterday midday a group of youngesters arrived and promptly started with their music -doef... doef from one of the cars. By the afternoon some of the campers must have complained and security arrived and told them to quiten it down, which they did. Early this morning by around seven the music started up again. Within a few minutes security arrived and told them to pack up and leave.
Well done Leentjiesklip management
Experienced the same when we were there. They take no nonsense.
Ha ha! You better not fly your Sharks flag next weekend Brian. Expect an influx of WP supporters for the weekend.
We were there the weekend of the final in 2010 when the Sharks won. All over the camp there were shouts of "WP jou lekker ding" prior to the game. That night it was very peacefull in the camp. The guys were sitting around the fire very downhearted.
Suddenly out of the blue the one guy shouts, "WP jou kak ding".
I just hope it's a good game
It was great to bump into you and Carol at Leentjiesklip this week. Now you can see what it is like there when the wind is not blowing. Lovely weather on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
We came home a bit early yesterday as the weather had turned for the worse but will probably be back in just over a week (Mon 10th) if the forecast is good nearer the time and if you are still there will come and say hello again.
Was lovely to meet you as well. It's rather busy here this weekend.
There is a regata here on the lagoon today. But there is no wind atm so I don't know if it will happen. There was a race yesterday from Cape Town up to Mykonos with the firts yacht arriving in the lagoon just before 18h00 and that last this morning just before 08h00. Apparently a few turned back because of lack of wind.
Early morning last Thursday.
Alex awesome picture !!!
