Northern Cape

If you really and truly want to get away from it all, the Northern Cape is the place to be. Come and experience real peace and tranquility where you can take advantage of the Northern Cape’s top tourist attractions - adventure holidays, white water rafting, 4X4 trails, dinosaur tracking and mountain hiking, with the spring flowers, and the grandiose Augrabies Falls as the main attractions.

This province comprises delightful scenery such as the Karoo plains in the south, the Kalahari Desert to the north, and riverine vegetation along the banks of the mighty and majestic Orange River. The Orange River becomes wild and thundering during the rainy season, abounding with vibrant cascades and waterfalls that are in total contrast with the bleak wilderness around the Augrabies region.

The Upper Karoo region comes alive with an abundance of showy flowers at the first sign of the summer rains. The Namaqualand region is well known for its extravagant perennial spring flower display between August and October of each year, whilst the Orange River area is a rich farmland area being traversed by the river from the east to the west. For holiday makers and tourists who travel to the area, after the falls, it makes sense to head to Namaqualand, close enough to the Augrabies for both areas to be visited.

Throughout this wonderful province of the Northern Cape, you can stay at tremendous holiday resorts, hike on game farms, traverse 4X4 trails, visit nature reserves that are teeming with every species of antelope imaginable, and experience total tranquility whilst refreshing body and soul in perfect harmony with nature at her undisputed best.
